Grimerlana Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike

aidanratesmovies Starting out I'd like to say that I have never been more obsessed with a show than this. It is filled with great performances and a interesting storyline that never gets old. I've seen every episode at least twice. The show stars Mathew Baynton as the main character named Jamie and his twin brother Ariel who has been jealous of him his entire life because his mothers story of how he left him in a church parking lot because he was the son of God and deserved better. Ariel sets up a program called Doofus which transfers all of his crimes over to Jamie. He's also wants revenge on him because he stole his x-wife from him and he still loves her. Jamie finds this out on the day of the apocalypse that he is adopted has a twin and Layla his wife might be with his brother. He sets out to find her and along the way finds his mom his dad (Father Jude another character in the series) They soon end up together and Ariel tries to stop it and get her back before the world ends along with Jamie's daughter Frankie. Father Jude and sister team up to find false messiahs before the second coming of Chirst but fall in love along the way. There romance gets troubled though when Jude is given the option of choosing her or the priesthood. Before he could respond she joins the sisterhood again. Jude hands one of the sisters a note from him telling her that he left the preset hood but Sister Celine receive the note too late and Jude thinking that she Doesn't love him any more hangs himself and she finds him and breaks out in tears. At the end she finds out that she is pregnant with his baby and is going to see him soon in heaven. Another character on the show is Ronda McNeil who is accused of hacking into the governments website but really is covering for her son. She soon escapes with another in mate and soon gets to see Scooty again but nearly gets caught but cops are pulled away because Scotty her brother and the leader of the governments apocalypse section made a fake phone call. He is soon arrested and has to get out to attempt to save the world and is forced to give away the location of his sister. He later sobs with his husband another government worker because he gave up his sister because of a plan that never worked. At the very end everyone races to the bunker and and Jamie in an attempt to help a guy with his car he is knocked out by his brother and he steals his clothes. Jamie is left to die with Rhonda's dying husband who was giving up his life because he was sick and Ariel finished the car job to close the door with the car because the door was stuck. Jamie states that he is who his bother is pretending to be but Rhonda's husband Ranjeet says that its too late and Ariel gets his wife and the bunker despite his brother being the son of God. It was a rather disappointing end and even worse that there's not going to be a second season of show if because Jamie is the son of God than he might be able to survive. Any way it's a great show besides the twist at the end of the very last episode. I strongly recommend it still to anybody. This show proves that a show about the apocalypse Doesn't need zombies.

joshkav I thought that the show was amazing from beginning to end, some episodes were more action packed than others but made up for it in the last 3 episodes. Somethings I found quite strong was the fact that Ariels/Jamie's dad (father Jude) killed himself because the Vatican went against his beliefs so that they could bring hope to people even if the savior they picked wasn't the true savior, so he killed himself instead of leaving his faith which showed that he was deeply religious and couldn't possibly go against his faith. Another strong part of the series is when at the end of the series in the last episode you found out that Jamie has been knocked unconscious by Ariel who went into the bunker and pretended to be Jamie and was the actual one narrating the entire series and not Jamie. We are left to presume that Jamie has been Engulfed by smoke and ash and is now dead but after all the trouble God went through to protect him and get him to the bunker I very much doubt he's dead. I really hope there is going to be a second series as I think the series has ended leaving too many questions unanswered and would also be exciting to see what goes on whilst there in the bunker and to also see if Jamie is alive, the actor who plays Jamie says he's very much up for a second series.

alexusapi Starting with what i liked: The acting was good, most of the actors were really good and did their part well, there are some noticeable exceptions but overall well acted. Some of the jokes were good also, some hidden humor that is gritty and sometimes hard to catch.What i didn't like: The writing, it was very poorly written, often seemed as though the writers wrote something and then made a turn without really thinking of the consequences. Some of the characters come of as unbelievable.This whole thing reeks of Christian propaganda, disregarding the obvious prophecy girl and water parting magic things the fact that seconds after the first person in the whole show claims to be an "atheist" he kills his best friend because he has no use for him anymore. And the coolest characters and most handsome are the priest and the nun, this is all subconscious manipulation to make religion the "cool" thing and atheism out as pointless and evil.I also feel that the measures taken to divert or destroy the comet were seriously weak, obviously we would not send one missile, we would send many and calculate the forces needed to divert its course, and the president couldn't just lie that it worked because those 27 scientists are not the only ones with telescopes and trajectory calculations, every major space agency in the world would know, like the Russian and Chinese.

mcblee From the first episode, I was hooked. As some people may think, there are plot points that could seem implausible but given time are not. The casting is brilliant, Jenna Fischer is a revelation, Matthew Baynton is fantastic, Joel Fry is hilarious, though I've never thought much of Pauline Quirk, she is great, Patterson Joseph and Kyle Soller are a fabulous team, Gaia Scodellaro and Rob Lowe make a strange yet funny couple and lastly Megan Mullaly is still fabulous as a white supremacist. I also appreciate how well the stories begin to intertwine after the first episode. The scripts are well written and sometimes filled with surprises. All in all, I really love this quirky show!
