Excellent but underrated film

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Tayyab Torres
Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

I'm 5 episodes in and that's enough. I've seen lots of movies and TV series with plot holes but this one takes the biscuit, the thing is as well not much is happening in each episode. The teacher reveals the secret to some kids in episode 5 and Matt Dillon get's outside the town's limits.I don't know if there's going to be a twist but i don't care. Can't handle anymore of this nonsense.
Happy viewing

I didn't know at the time I watched the pilot episode of this TV show that there was a book series that this mystery sci-fi show based on. I kept watching until the mystery revealed surprisingly after just few episodes in the first season and what made me keep watching not the mystery it self but what the characters would do! When you watch Wayward Pines after the "reveal" of truth you might feel sorry for the characters for what they are facing. You will keep thinking of the proposed solutions (in the TV show). The TV show should be ending with season 1, as season 2 did not present much to the mystery and the solutions (even though few episodes in season 2 were superior to some few episodes of season 1). Season 2 has few episodes "explaining and revealing" some of lose ends from season 1 and "explaining and revealing" other an unnecessary information. For now I can not compare this TV show to the book and whether the TV show was loyal to book content or not but in overall this TV series is good regardless of some irritating moments, characters, and decisions in it. If you decide to watch this TV show you will probably ending watching "characters" behaviors, few behaviors will make sense and lot of others might...not!

You may wonder why I give this show a 10. I first noticed this show as it started turning up in second hand stores. I assumed, from the blurb and the sleeve graphics, that it was some sort of whole town Fargo thing, perhaps even a black comedy or satire on things like The Wicker Man or The Stepford Wives. Whilst those comparisons hold a little water, it's not the way to describe this show. Long story short one of my favorite video hire stores closed down and I bought Waywood Pines Series One up with numerous other titles from what was left on the shelves, a day into a final fire sale. And was greatly surprised and impressed. Credit where credit is due. The characters portrayed here are original. My mind tries to tell me the hero is a gruff no nonsense policeman, his instincts leading him to the next clue, but that would be understating this originality. A few episodes in and you realize its not a horror show but far sighted science fiction. I understand why that couldn't be on the blurb, and respect the producers whom took a leap of faith with the public that interest would remain until the gravitational revelations take hold. And this is where the show shines, because the science is, well, without spoiling things, a pummeling shift. It goes from being fascinating to a huge sit-up and notice set of moments. I was glued! To give a movie comparison here really would be a spoiler, so I won't go that far.All the characters are original, though at first most do seem familiar, but then the plot throws a curve ball, and all and sundry are then seen in a new light. The town is a unique setting, the production good and the actors doing it all justice. And there are some very good actors in this show. Matt Dillon began his career in some amazingly atmospheric thrillers. This won't disappoint. For me this is must viewing for science fiction fans. I've just purchased the second season, and I can't wait to watch it.
