A Masterpiece!
Dirtylogy
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

This show had my heart and emotions racing. Between the gorgeous animation and the emotional journey of Violet, I was unable to stop watching. Thirteen episodes is simply not enough. Violet is mesmerizing and her story is captivating. Season two get here soon!

I honestly felt sorry for Violet in this anime with a lot of reasons that has happened to her such as:1. She lost her arms while trying to save her lover but he unfortunately tragically died during the war
2. She is an orphan
3. She was a rape victim but thankfully managed to kill their disgusting facesSeriously while trying to type this review, I am trying my best to hold back the tears because it is a rather sad story and honestly Violet is such an incredible character that she didn't deserve this. She really sets a good example of women who were soldiers during the time and how they were such strong individuals. As well, this includes women who are in the army, navy, etc and they are definately considered strong individuals as well! I was so relieved but heartbroken for Violet that she managed to crack her lover Gilbert's code with it saying " I love you" and the fact she managed to defuse the bombs without any assistance including that her metallic prosthetics were breaking, makes her such an inspiration! I'm blown away by her man! This anime is definately something to watch but only once since it does make you cry! 8/10 I give this great anime!

Don't let the words "the weapon" in the summary fool you. This is not a story about some weapon or about a war and filled with action. Rather it's a story about the aftermath of war and about the human emotion. Violet goes out to learn about emotions by writing letters for people, her goal is to understand the words "I love you". The pace in this series is slow and leveled, it won't hold you at the edge of your seat with suspense, but the curiosity about Violet's journey will make you want to keep watching.
The series managed to portray very well the feeling of loss, and made the characters feel alive. Although it had some down sides as well: Like the whole profession that was called "Auto Memories Dolls" , this title made no sense to me but maybe it's just bad translation. The fact that Violet's past and abilities were never explained, though I guess it could be argued that the series on purpose tried not to touch this subject. And I think what bothered me the most is the smooth transaction from emotionless puppet who killed people without bashing an eye to someone who could be considered a normal person after a relative short time.
It could be a nice series to pass the time, but also can be dull in moments.

This show looks great and is fairly well written but man what a snooze fest! The lullaby of a musical score alone is enough to send you off to dreamland. I'm all for good drama and a good love story but Violet Evergarden is just plain boring.
