Good movie but grossly overrated

Don't listen to the negative reviews

As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

The acting in this movie is really good.

forget I'm a huge real top gear fan while reading this.. first of all i know 2 years olds that have more personality, and are funnier than these 3 morons.. either they are only saying crap they read on a script (which is what it seems like) or they are really the dullest people on TV.. why does every thing they say seem like a nerd that thinks he's funny and knows nothing about cars except for what he read in the brochure wrote it for them.. honestly i have watched more than a few episodes and not one word seemed like it came from the spur of the moment... now for the I'm a real Top Gear fan part..it is sooooooooooooooooooo forced its pathetic.. from the very first episode its like they watched Top Gear and said well those guys run into each others cars so ill do it.. and those guys did that so well do it.. only were going to do it soon incredibly lame that it won't even come close to entertaining you as much as the closing credits of the real top gear...also why the hell does every episode end with tanner magically winning so he and only he can drive the supercar.. its stupid.. just say he's the race car driver he gets to drive the car.. don't do some stupid technicality in which he wins so he drives.... he's going to drive because he's the driver... this show would be better if it was just tanner talking to himself or a pet dog or a pet rock... or anything other than the two wet blankets he calls co hosts...

This is a well produced fun show to watch. I like how the show has evolved into its own "brand" of Top Gear. No more studio interviews with wannbe stars. I am very bothered by the loyal UK fans that only put the US version down. The UK show is good too. Why can't there be different versions of a show of this nature? All 3 hosts are very good in their own way, and have grown with the show itself. I even own all the DVDs available to date. This is good clean fun!! Keep up the good work!!

OK, so the first season or two were a little rough. So were, it turns out, the first season or two of the UK version. But the show has now really come into its own, and is one of the best shows on TV at this point.I may have a different perspective than some of the more vehement reviewers before me - I had only seen a couple episodes of the British version when I stumbled across the US version. So while I had some idea what the show was about, I wasn't dead set on the original being the only possible incarnation of the show that would work. The US version has actually gotten me to start watching the original UK show, which I probably wouldn't have ever done otherwise. Now for the blasphemy: I actually like the US version better than the UK version. Sure, the UK version is fantastic. But the US version has really grabbed me (and several of my friends) in a way I never would have expected. I'm not really a car guy (sure, I like them, and I know some about them, but nobody's going to come to me for information about a classic or exotic car), and yet this show has gotten me more interested in cars than I ever would have expected. It's that good - you don't even have to really be interested in the topic to find it highly watchable & entertaining. It would be like a bunch of people who had no interest in sports watching a sports show, or people who had no interest in drama watching a soap opera, just because they were that good. Shows like this are few and far between.Perhaps the most telling thing is that my wife, who has no interest in cars whatsoever, doesn't mind watching it with me at all. In fact, she's started asking what channel it's on if she has to leave the room, so she can turn it on in the room she's going to. That's a minor miracle in and of itself, and clear evidence of just how entertaining this show is.Sure, if you grew up on the UK version, you may find this show to be complete sacrilege. I'm sure once you're used to one version, anything different just won't cut it for you. But if you ignore the fact that it has the same name, and allow it to stand on its own, it is, in the end, a really excellent show.

The only reason why so many people are hating on this show is simply because the original is foreign, which to simple minded idiots, automatically makes it a better show, kind of like Dr. Who. This is despite the fact that the original is full of old guys and cars that most of us will never drive in places that most of us in the US will never go to. At least the American version is filmed in the US (for the most part) and mostly uses cars that most of us are likely to have driven in our lifetimes. If you want to watch some rich old men drive cars that you will never own, than by all means, watch the original. If, however, you want to watch something that you can actually relate to with vehicles that you'll probably own someday (if you haven't already) and places that you could likely visit someday, then you should definitely watch the American version.
