If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

I loved this show so much. It wasn't award winning but it was entertaining. I lost myself if the characters. I cried when someone would die. It was a complete escape. I just love when a show can pull you in like that. I wish another network or Netflix had picked it up for a 3rd season.

I have to say I enjoy this show more than the books. It has a strong following and the only complaint is a indecisive use of modern American slang and fantasy formal language. I hope this gets picked up for a 3rd season by SyFy channel. I ran across this on netflix and do not watch MTV or Spike, I think with a proper home this would build as a long term popular show. The female characters are interesting and powerful which is unusual in fantasy with Male characters

There are a lot of critics that thinks this is crap, but I must say that I loved the story, the creative work, costumes, hair, makeup and acting. To receive two nominations well deserved for the work that went into this series, it is absolutely amazing. It is watchable, entertaining and fun. I hope they make a season 3.

To be clear, the seven star rating I am giving this show is almost entirely based on my love for the genre and source material. I'm an avid Fantasy reader, and as such was very excited to hear that Terry Brooks' works were being adapted into a show! Then I started watching the series. I enjoyed the visuals and found the overarching plot agreeable enough. As for the characters and dialogue... it was like I was watching an MTV high school drama. To quote Rob Bricken in his Gizmodo article, "Imagine if Peter Jackson had hired the cast of any of MTV's current high school dramas to be in his Lord of the Rings movies-that's The Shannara Chronicles. It's almost exclusively a collection of extremely attractive young white people who, despite wearing elf ears and being forced to discuss magic stones and demon-imprisoning trees, give zero sense that they're living in a post-apocalyptic world full of magic."I forced myself through the first two seasons, and with no network picking the show up for a third, my hope is that perhaps there will be a chance for a reboot down the road if a network were to acquire the intellectual property. In a remake, I'd love to see a fresh take that removes the "high school" and returns to "high fantasy". I'd love to see what a more 'mature' network could do with this saga, and I think the market is increasingly ready for, shall we say, Lord of the Rings meets Game of Thrones. Shannara could be the medium for Fantasy to gain further network popularity, particularly now that GoT is wrapping up at the time I write this. And I have to say, Shannara on HBO is certainly an attractive proposition, though after what MTV has done with it I'm not going to hold my breath.
