The Caroline Rhea Show is an American syndicated variety/talk show that was regarded as the successor to The Rosie O'Donnell Show. It premiered in September 2002 and ran until May 2003 and was hosted by actress and comedienne Caroline Rhea, who was hand-picked by Rosie O'Donnell as her replacement and who had hosted the last few weeks of Rosie prior to her show launching. Like its predecessor, The Caroline Rhea Show was taped in Studio 8-G at NBC's Rockefeller Center Studios in New York City. In many ways, The Caroline Rhea Show was similar to the more-successful Ellen DeGeneres Show; both programs were daytime talk shows that were run like nighttime talk shows, with monologues and house bands and celebrity guests. Unlike with Rosie's daytime show where an audience member opened the show, by announcing the day's guests, Chip Zien was the announcer of the show announcing "Live from New York, it's The Caroline Rhea Show! On Today's Show...Here's Caroline!" The first five words, "Live from New York, it's," mimicked the opening tagline to Saturday Night Live, produced in the neighboring Studio 8-H. The show's intro song was Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", which the audience often sang along to, particularly in vocalising the three beats after the song's eponymous line and chanting "so good, so good" in response to "good times never seemed so good".

raysond As of the previous comment that was listed on IMDb as saying that Caroline Rhea's talk show was better than Rosie O'Donnell's? First off, lets face some facts here. In 2002,when production of the syndicated "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" ended, she traded in her daytime crown for a hermit-like hostess who basically replaced her. What the producers did was handpicked the actress-comedian from the TV-series "Sabrina,The Teenage Witch",to assume her duties as a talk show host. And what better person to succeed her in this quest? Caroline Rhea..... Yes,the little-midget-hermit of an comedian/actress to fill the void that was previously left by Rosie O'Donnell. When "The Caroline Rhea Show",premiered in syndication in September of 2002,the actress-comedian didn't know what to expect when the producers(from Rosie's show)picked her....but what she didn't know was that with the essential job duties of hosting a syndicated national talk show was also came some of the sibling's overalls.Hosting from a nearly identical set(which was basically the same exact set and all the fixings from The Rosie O'Donnell Show),Caroline Rhea inherited the belief that if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. But things did break-and far as the show was it was really falling apart quickly in the ratings as the viewers notice a quick downhill too within the first three months it aired. Plus, she had the overall audacity to think that she was better than Oprah Winfrey,or in another perspective better than Rosie herself. In other words,Caroline Rhea didn't know how to play or survive in the talk show game, and within a year lost. And lost big time. Her analytical skills as a talk show host too were pathetic as hell, which goes to show that even a once great comedian should have never jumped the gun to go toward the talk show format ever, and with Caroline Rhea she was the worst thing since Pat Sajak did the opposite on interviewing guests on a talk show format. Some of the repulsive if annoying questions she would asked guests on the show which such unprofessional consquence as "So,were you ever a Boy Scout?" Caroline Rhea's dimensional stint as a talk show host and her dimension was cancelled after a few months, when the audience realized that meant she shouldn't. It would have been a whole lot better if she would have stayed in prime-time with Melissa Joan Hart on "Sabrina" than trying to outdo herself as a talk show host. Nowadays, this actress is even a "bigger loser" than she has ever been and not as funny as a comedian as she used to be neither.
tbcaudle I really loved the Rosie O'Donnell show. She was (is) hilarious and was surprised when she left. I tried watching it as the Caroline Rhea Show, but found it dry, humorless, and stale. I was extremely disappointed in the show. Rhea just doesn't seem to have the personality for a talk show. She is not intriguing, and it always seemed the audience was asleep.I, for one, tuned out after a few shows (thinking I would give it a chance). Rhea didn't seem to have the same candor as Rosie. I suppose I just prefer Rosie's persona. It just wasn't the same. Maybe a different premise may have saved it. This just wasn't Rhea's show.
OBrilliantOne I adored Rosie, and I never thought the show would be the same without her, but I was way wrong. I adore Caroline Rhea. Her sense of humor is refreshing and her normality is fantastic. She's so adorable and definitely worth watching. The relationship between Chris Botti and herself is so cute. Caroline allows herself to make mistakes and her sometimes self-depricating humor, allows you to look at your imperfections and laugh. Caroline forever!!!!!!!
Mike M. I was about twelve when the Rosie O'Donnell show came about, and I watched it for a good while. Eventually though I started to notice the energy level drop. It became boring, just another talk show. But Caroline Rhea is a breath of fresh air. She's just having fun and it shows. If your up some morning and want something fun and light to start your day, flip on Caroline...you wont regret it.
