Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Judging from some critical press indicating that a shaky start gave way to a decent first season run, I'm very hopeful as I commence to binge watch the first (and only, apparently) season.Beautifully produced. Well-directed, with allowances for Jack Black's vestigial boffo shtick in evidence. Lovely, lovely writing. This is what attracts me, personally: I have to pay attention because losing focus will deprive me of the experience of scripts that range from sharp riposte on up to dramatic interpersonal tension, then further on up to geopolitical mythos.Like I said, I'm preparing to binge watch and I'm hopeful that subsequent installments fare at least as well in this department as has the Pilot.Enjoyed a feature of the edit that seem to homage Strangelove: The scenario work covers one verite, realtime event, and a handful of settings with scene changes jockeying adroitly from setting to setting. Appreciated that in Strangelove, happy to see it reprised here.And, heck, so many nice little touches, e.g., great to see Robbins's expert work again.Check it out!

riveralex Tim Robbins, Jack Black and Jerry Weintraub brought this superb satirical series, created by Roberto and Kim Benabib, to the screen via HBO. It ran one season, was renewed, then suddenly cancelled because "they could not do it justice," which may mean that it was expensive. (Well, yes, there are a lot of planes.)A "Dr Strangelove" for the new millennium, this pacey, dark political farce fairly rips across the screen. It's superbly written, beautifully cast, and artfully performed by everyone from its stars to its bit players (though I feel that Aasif Mandvi, Pablo Schreiber and Eric Ladin deserve special mention.) I cannot recall ever laughing so hard at anything, or seeing Cabinet in-fighting illustrated so credibly and outrageously.Now that we Americans have a President who could never have got the part via Central Casting, I fear that The Brink's apocalyptic take on politics and antics at the highest levels may be closer to the truth than we would ever want it to be.When the End of Days is upon us, it'll be a shame that we won't be able to go out watching at least three seasons of The Brink. Boo to whoever made this decision, because this show is a classic and deserved better.

damondodge Don't be discouraged by the ratings; this show is infinitely more pleasant to watch than most of the pretentious, artsy, slow moving, reality cam junk they have at present. It is well paced , well structured and HBO hasn't spared any expenses to give it a grandiose feel which was a must since this is about the big boys who control the fate of our planet. Tim Robbins excels like he does with everything he touches. Jack Black has been given a role that is well centred in his comfort zone, the slacker dude with a good heart trying and fumbling. Unfortunately he is one of those guys like Shyamalan who will bring a swarm of bad reviews with him wherever he goes thanks to his past works. Add to that the way in which this show completely trashes American exceptionalism and the business of war; it's not hard to understand why the ratings are where they are.The humour is a bit over the top and meant to be taken lightly. Events in this show are never likely to happen, and most nations aren't controlled by maniacs who want to watch the world burn. I try not to binge watch most shows, because it reduces my interest in the story and characters as time goes on. The Brink is the only show I can remember that I have watched a whole season in one go. The well paced screenplay keeps your attention from swaying and the cast does a wonderful job making the surrealism work.

mozgers Well it is probably because i studied international relations and politics at collage i find this show entertaining. Jack Black is one of my favorite musician so that was a bonus for me. Best part is all political dialogs are well written with lots of hidden information in them and people who are having this conversations are doing it in an informal way. Aside from pilot part all the political riff raff is lot of fun if you are interested in eastern politics. If you are not into that kind of stuff this show will probably bore you to death. I'm glad someone took politics down to a comedy level because people tend to get very tense about it. It is safe to say whole show is a parody of world politics. Fun to watch, Jack Black is Jack Black as always doing weird stuff and all. If you like all these above you are probably waiting for the next episode already
