The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

I also happened on this show while randomly cruising the channels. Initially I watched it because I've always had a crush on Jami Gertz, but the show has some very different humor that makes it rally worth watching. One of the interesting aspects of this show is how the humor is often uniquely funny yet occasionally horrid. Insult humor is, for me, about as unfunny as anything can get. So when the "jokes" lean towards portraying unconscionable behavior it rankles me deeply. Thankfully the majority of the time is spent on the honestly funny side of funny. I would recommend that everyone give it a viewing if possible. You might, like myself, find a little diamond in the rough.

This is easily one of the worst shows I've ever watched. It's absolutely stupid. The parents are frighteningly irresponsible; for example, in one episode they accompanied their son Brian on visits to prospective colleges. While Brian actually went on the college tours and was interested in what the schools had to offer, his parents were more concerned about the local bars and potential party life -- not for his welfare, but for their own enjoyment! They appear to be trapped in a teenaged mentality and it's a wonder that the kids are anywhere close to normal. I don't find it at all realistic that the parents are so incredibly messed up; I'm really not surprised this travesty was canceled and I can't understand why the Lifetime network picked it up. Leave it in the trash where it belongs.

This was one funny show. There is so much reality crap on TV. All the good sitcoms went away. This should not be. We need good sitcoms like "Still Standing" to we can relax after our long day of "Reality."The CBS network made ANOTHER huge mistake. This series was right up there with Everybody loves Raymond,Friends, Sex and the City, Frasier. What has happened to the TV sitcom? What has happened to TV as a hole. It is as if the Networks don't want to pay actors any more so they put on Reality shows. Yuck!!!!!!Get with it Networks!

Started watching this sitcom on Lifetime and its excellent. Extremely funny and entertaining, definitely one of the best casts on TV sitcoms right now. MArk Addy and Jamie Gertz are superb in their roles , the children are perfectly casted and and the sister is very funny. Same type cast as the Roseanne show without the trailer park trash attitude. The show is funny and yet touches on real life issues. To top it off Paul Sorvino and the mother are the icing on the cake. This is a show not to be missed and the half hour will fly by quickly. Lifetime picked up a true gem of a show and its refreshing to the usually Golden Girls that they play. The Golden Girls and Nanny are good but this show is refreshing and original and not to be missed.
