Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
Huievest
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Humaira Grant
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Hayden Kane
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Surprisingly this new Sigmund and the Sea Monsters impressed me very much, Very rarely do reboots impress me, and I will admit I was nervous when Sid and Marty announced about a remake of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. The new show actually stayed somewhat faithful to the original show yet modern for younger viewers and surprisingly I really enjoyed it.If you've never saw the original Sigmund it's about two boys named Johnny and Scott who find a sea monster called Sigmund. The series had the boys hide Sigmund from his cruel family and prevent their housekeeper Zelda from discovering Siggy. Also in season two Sigmund introduced two new characters a genie called Sheldon and his nephew name Shelly makes later appearances in season 2.The original Sigmund and the Sea Monsters became a huge hit like Pufnstuf and it lasted for two seasons. The remake made changes into the show, first off by having the boys spend the summer at their aunt Maxine and cousin Robyn's house when they discover Sigmund. There is also the difference with Sigmund's family as they aren't as mean as in the original series and Sigmund's mother Sweet Mama is a single mother, Also in the remake there is a villain Captain Barnabas who is crazy and believes sea monsters are real. The kids playing Johnny Scotty and Robyn are cute and sweet, Captain Barnabas played by David Arquette is a fantastic villain. The costume designs made the sea monsters look realistic in the updated version and it's less cheesy. The only problem I had in the pilot which fortunately they fixed was Sigmund's voice, it sounded whiny.I loved having Johnny Whittaker guest star in the reboot as Zach, for the pilot he makes minor appearances but in the other 6 episodes he pretty much is a recurring character. I thought it was great idea to incorporate the original Johnny from Sigmund into the new series, I also liked having both Sid and Marty Krofft guest star and make cameos in the new show. I hope there will be a season 2 with Scott Kolden guest staring as Scott Kolden didn't guest star, or I didn't see him in the first season. There are seven episodes of Sigmund and I'm hoping for more, the last episode ended with a cliffhanger which I won't spoil but it is a twist. The show is highly recommended for nostalgia adults and kids. I'm looking forward for The Bugaloos reboot, yes the Kroffts are going to reboot other television shows of their era. Here's hoping for more adventures with Sigmund
