Sorry, this movie sucks
Console
best movie i've ever seen.
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Voxitype
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

...along comes this juvenile nonsense to prove you wrong. There is so much "entertainment" choking the airwaves these days that some of it is just bound to be worse than others but this show really plumbs the depths. The story has just a crumb of interest but is written and performed so badly that it makes you hope that the asteroid hits the planet as soon as possible to put us all out of our misery. Where did CBS manage to find a crew of such uniformly bad writers who make what could have been an interesting story so obvious and boring? How did they manage to find a cast of such uniformly amateur and unconvincing actors? If you like the "with one bound he was free" type of kids' matinee movies that were popular in the 1950s then you might just be able to find something to spark your imagination here, as long as you can shelve your critical faculties and resist boredom. Otherwise, I recommend learning a few pages of your local phone book every time this silly piece of nonsense is shown - you'll be making much better use of your time and will find it a more enjoyable experience.

This is a drama disguised as a Sci Fi Series.
And I will watch almost any crap Sci Fi.
They loosely through all kind of Scientific solutions around.
Solar Sails, EM Drive etc.. etc.. It's not a very good drama
and it sucks as Sci Fi . I liked the Dome better at least it had
mystery to it and was a pretty good drama.

Although it seems like a great storyline to follow, just how far could this storyline go? As time passes (and the threat drawls closer), we could see the true nature of what humanity is, and what we do in the final days and hours of our existence. Do we go insane with overwhelming fear, turn to religion and except our fate, or do we come together as one united human race, and look pass the expense and profit of saving the world, as we find the way to either stop the threat, or find the means to continue on...out there in the vast void of space.
The show's title, to me, doesn't seem to connect to the threat being presented, where as "DEEP IMPACT" does. The show could have followed the same storyline as the 1998 film and be a bit more detailed on how a mission could work, both on the deflection of the asteroid, or on the relocation of those who could be saved from the near destruction of the earth. We can only see just how far this story will go...after all, look how far the show CONTAINMENT lasted.

The prior review discovered what I was curious about: the staff changed for Season 2 after an interesting season 1 and the show has gone downhill. All along there has been the usual need to suspend disbelief regarding errors in technical and legal topics, but its gotten worse when the characters that previously exhibited intelligence are now portrayed as doing obviously stupid things: like covering up what was an act of self defense as if it had been something wrong). Then they seem to be confused over the simple idea that if a president loses their powers by being mistakenly declared dead and the VP taking over, then obviously that power transfer wasn't constitutionally binding since it was done based on a mistake and is null and void. In reality, unlike at least someone on the writing staff apparently, the Supreme Court isn't comprised of complete idiots. (Admittedly there is the possibility some were coerced to avoid the obvious, but the show only suggests a staffer was and not the justices).
