Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Isbel A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
bscollon I watched a few episodes in the first season and enjoyed them, then returned to tune in to the second season. I have to say, I expected a lot of mindless rescue-action sequences but the show has more layering and heart than that. TJ Martinez is great, and Dolph manages to pull off the sensitive tough guy role really well. Lots of relationship plot lines that overlap and keep it interesting. The camera-work does a great job of showing off the locations and the cast in their best light. Direction is decent, but I do think the pacing could be a little faster in places. The writing has steadily improved over the shows run and has the potential to elevate the show even more. I've definitely been drawn in to some of the character story lines. Overall this is an entertaining and thoughtful show with heart. I'll keep watching.
benjilori1 There's nothing really like this show on TV right now which is a nice change. I have been watching it at work with my co-workers and look forward to getting together each week to see it. My favorite character is Texas. He's so believable as a firefighter. And I really like Alfonso too. I remember seeing him on Dancing with the Stars. What a great role model. He truly is an American hero, and to see him play one on TV is pretty cool. One of the other things I like about the show it the amazing locations. I love all the sunset shots and those beautiful beaches. I wish I got to go to work and look at that stunning view. When I see the girls doing that canoe paddling, it makes me want to try it. Maybe my arms will look that good too. Rock on SAF3. I'll be watching.
chris-526-981761 Just to be clear, this show is awful. But worth spending 10 minutes watching just to commiserate with fellow reviewers. After watching the first 10 minutes of the pilot weeks ago and not giving this woefully lacking show another thought I found myself blinking through reviews today and couldn't hold back an exuberant laughter as I relived the train wreck through their eyes. I wasn't aware they shot everything in South Africa (which I learned from a fellow reviewer); I'm guessing they learned a lesson about cutting corners considering the shows rave reviews. Thanks to everyone who took the time. Your experience created mine.
lucidityqr Dolph Lundgren is finally getting his due respect. As an excellent underrated actor, he fits seamlessly into the show and has the athletic ability to give his acting persona 100%. As an older, wiser individual facing his own demons in life, it will be interesting to see how he comes back from where he went (I just watched episode 5). The soundtrack never gets old, and is very good! The women in the show are sexy in a classy way, without being too slutty or presumptuous. Women with feelings and standards, from the makers of Baywatch, you say? Something very lacking in TV these days. This show touches deeply on the social stigma surrounding burn victims which is very touching and at the same time very real. I found that while watching the show, the script writers try to fit too many words into one scene, making the actors sentences seem rushed and choreographed, instead of naturally spoken as in conversation. I feel that as the characters are developed this will largely be either a non existent issue or will go away entirely as each character finds their own focus, and plot points are better defined. Some very quirky scenes in earlier episodes, like the dancing scenes, or one character on the beach with a web cam... next to a barbecue pit... while grilling barbecue? I think the uncomfortable oddness of these moments, or the way it seems so out of place, adds rather than detracts from the overall feel of the show. Something about ridiculousness or goofiness in TV show cinema that really keeps the show interesting and moving along. I love this show, and I will follow it until it really starts to catch on. I think a lot of people that gave this show a bad review never really gave it a chance or watched it past the first 20 minutes. Can't wait for the next episode and what happens moving forward!
