Info

Focuses on a group of toddlers, most prominently Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Angelica, and their day-to-day lives, usually involving common life experiences that become adventures in the babies' imaginations. Adults in the series are almost always unaware of what the children are up to; however, this only provides more room for the babies to explore and discover their surroundings.

Rugrats Audience Reviews

BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Minahzur Rahman The first several seasons of Rugrats were the best. I could watch every episode repeatedly, and still not get bored. That's how good Rugrats actually was. I use to own several episodes of Rugrats on video tape, and it was something I cherished. Brings back fond memories. It was a great show on Nicktoons too. It was even shown on BBC in the UK. The great thing about Rugrats were the characters: Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, Susie, Drew, Stu, Didi, Chaz etc. Every one of them were important and valuable with my favourites being Chuckie and Angelica. I really liked how Chuckie was scared of pretty much anything and everything, and I really liked how Angelica was so obsessed with getting her hands on that cookie jar. I think Angelica is the star of the show: she was the main reason why this show was so entertaining. She's like the main antagonist of this show despite the "Grown-ups" thinking that she's a little "princess". And let's not forget the two pets (Fluffy and Spike), who added more flavour to the show. I really liked that episode between Fluffy and Spike, and consider it as one of my favourites. Other episodes I liked are one involving the football game where the babies are fighting over that chocolate milk, and another one where Tommy thinks Stu is a robot or something. These episodes among others were really awesome, and I could watch them several times, yet still not get bored. That's how great the first several seasons of Rugrats really was. When we think of Rugrats, we usually think of those babies, but it was also the "Grown-ups" that contributed as much as those adorable, little babies, and that was important otherwise the show wouldn't have worked as well as it did. I find it amazing how the Grown-ups" are very similar to the people you find in the real world around you. The likes of Drew and Charlotte being busy with their careers, and having very little time to look after their daughter - Angelica. Someone such as Stu working at home, and Didi mainly being a housewife, and looking after the babies. The great thing about Rugrats was that it wasn't just a show, but a show that can teach others or viewers the true essence of life. It seems as though Rugrats had a purpose: you could just sense it when you watch it. However, the show did start to go downhill once a new baby came onto board called "Dil Pickles". This new character basically just ruined the show, and Rugrats started to lose its appeal. I hated Dil Pickles so much: very annoying. The episodes got so boring once he came onto the scene. I feel the Rugrats should've ended at that moment instead, and the show would've been perfect. So, the Rugrats does have it downsides, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the show. I do think that this show went for far too long, and that wasn't required at all.
Lee Eisenberg "Rugrats" is the sort of thing that you might find entertaining when you're nine years old, but not afterwards. It seems like the shows on Nickelodeon were just long commercials. If I had children, I most certainly would not let them watch any of these. This story of babies and how they interpret things gets old pretty quickly. The animated shows that remained watchable over the years - Rocky & Bullwinkle, The Flintstones, The Simpsons, South Park - did so because they were and are clever. Not so with "Rugrats", "Ren and Stimpy" or "Doug". If I ever have to sit through this again, I'll want to then watch an Ingmar Bergman movie to wash the stupidity out of my head.
Benjamin Black Hello children, men children, and women children alike; it's time to review productions brought to us by Nickelodeon, the first kids' network! Let's begin right by talking about one of Nickelodeon's hottest shows ever, "Rugrats!" If you don't know what this show was about, you should be ashamed of yourself; but I'll fill you in, anyway. The show features a group of babies and a couple of preschoolers who engage themselves in chaos and adventures. This band of toddlers includes Tommy, the brave leader, his younger brother Dil, who can't speak yet; Chuckie, the scared one, his adventure-loving sister Kimi; twins Phil and Lil, the disgusting ones; Angelica, the 3-year-old trouble-maker; and Susie, 3-year-old the level-headed smart one. Before we get to the good stuff, let's quickly go over the bad/not-so-good stuff. First of all, the continuity. At the beginning of the series, Tommy, Phil, and Lil are 1, Chuckie is 2, and Susie and Angelica are 3. How did they wind up going back to being 0, 1, and 2 before the end of the series? Secondly, a lot of people say that the later episodes are bad. While I won't say they're bad, I don't think they're as good as some of the episodes earlier in the series. They're good, they're fun; but they didn't have as much focus or thought as the earlier episodes did. Finally...the parents. The parents on this show are horrible. It's ironic because they're not designed to be awful parents like the parents of "Family Guy" or "The Fairly Oddparents;" we're not supposed to ask why in the world these people are parents. They're good, decent, honest human beings who we all can identify with. They're every day people just like us. But...do they ever watch their kids? Ever?! No, wait, I take that back; if the main characters were kids, the parents would be awful. But no. Our main characters are BABIES!!! For all the problems and adventures the parents let their kids get into, I'm surprised the babies haven't died yet! Of course, no parent is perfect, but how many crazy adventures on this show have Stu, Didi, and the rest of the parents allowed their kids to get into - and that's not even mentioning the movies!! Good grief, said Charlie Brown, these people need to be reported! Now let's get to the good stuff! There are way too many good things about this show, and I'm sure I won't mention all of them. I'll try to talk about as many as I can, though. First of all, these characters are great! I love them! Again, they're all identifiable, they're funny, and they're memorable. I don't know how people generally feel about Kimi, but I enjoy her. She's fun, she's adventurous, but she still seems to bring something new. Chuckie has to learn to adapt to change and think of someone other than himself. I also love Susie. She is a fantastic role model. She's smart, kind, and caring, but she's not perfect. She still learns and grows. I've got to say, though, my favorite character is probably Phil! Why? Because he's funny as crud! I love the quick remarks he makes to everything!TOMMY: Uh, guys, do bushes have feet? PHIL: I don't think so. I didn't even know babies grew on trees. He is cool! Some of my favorite episodes, much like a lot of other people, are the holiday episodes. This show really captures the essence and heart of the holidays they celebrate! You understand the importance of the holiday, the reason they're so important to people, and you understand what the holidays are about; whether it be Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Mothers' Day, etc. I also love the episodes where the babies learn something about life. One of my favorite episodes is probably the classic Mothers' Day episode, where Chuckie learned about his late mother. That was such a wonderful, classy way to handle a subject matter like that, and it worked really well! It was a gem!I'm surprised how quickly "Rugrats" left after the series ended. This was Nickelodeon's most successful show until "SpongeBob" surpassed its greatness. I really like this show. It was smart, clever, and a lot of fun. I'm glad it's playing on TeeNick's "'90s are All That," otherwise I'd only have the 3 movies and 2 video tapes I have of the show...Though, does anybody know where I can find this on video or DVD? If you do, let me know and then go get a copy for yourself; you'll love it! God bless you, and much love! BOOYIKA!
Criticman12 Back in the 90's, there was a network called, Nicktoons. It was just like Cartoon Network and it had some great show's like, Doug, The Angry Beavers and CatDog. But there was another show that was really popular. Heck, even Steven Spielberg loved this show! The show was called, Rugrats. The show is about a group of toddlers going on funny adventure's.What make's this show really great are the character's. Tommy is the leader of the group and he is a brave baby, Chuckie is alway's scared but also likable, and the twins, Phil and Lil, argue a lot and also funny. But then there's Angelica. She is a spoiled brat and Tommy's cousin. She is mostly mean to the babies's throughout the series. It also has some colorful animation. When, "The Rugrat's Movie", was released, we were introduced to, Dil Pickles, Tommy's baby brother. He is sometime's cute and funny. But the series started to go downhill after when, "Rugrat's in Paris", was released. Because we were introduced to Chuckie's stepsister, Kimie. I did not care too much about Kimie because she was pretty annoying at time's and the season's with Kimie, get really boring. In the end, "Rugrats", is a classic animated show that will entertain little kids and adults (Like I said about Spielberg's opinion on the show). But season's 7 to 9 are really boring, so you're better off watching season's 1 to 6.
