Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

If there was a nomination for the most unusual film about the cops, the undisputed winner would be a "Police squad"! Before you 6 series is surprisingly hilarious COP show, created by the same "crazy" team that made You laugh over the "Airplane!" and "the Naked gun", only it is necessary to stipulate at once, "the Naked Gun" was later "Police squad!", and many of the gags were borrowed. It was only filmed six episodes, and all of them have become iconic. After all, the series successfully mocked world of crime and police world of the 80s. Here you and kidnapper, and the wily Secretary, and more.But the main feature of the show is Leslie Nielsen. His naivety combined with the incredible idiocy and logic just go mad, and when blended with good acting this actor gives us the Lieutenant of police, a kind of super-agent. He is very absent-minded, or knocks, loves women and is ready to save the world.If we talk about the show, it is decorated with verbal puns and political jokes, and traditional "domestic crimes", which always OK. And the amount of humor is quite large, because of the 25 minutes allotted on humor for about 20 minutes — agree, not so bad!8 out of 10

With the success of Airplane the creative behind this film turned to a TV show and turned their focus on police shows of the era.Police Squad parodied the Quinn Martin Productions that were better known in the 1970s for The Streets of San Francisco, Cannon, Barnaby Jones.The Episode would begin with the announcer proclaiming: 'From the files of Police squad' going through the special guest stars who would only appear for the announcement and then promptly disappear or get killed off. In fact William (Frank Cannon) Conrad was one of the special guests who briefly appeared.At the end of the show there was always an Epilogue with the episode closing on a joke and some laughter and a freeze frame that is not frozen.The jokes were very much in the style of Airplane, a mixture of puns and physical slapstick, with Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin playing it straight despite the chaos he causes all around.The funniest part of the show was when he would go to the shoe shine man for the word on the street, the man who literally knew everything. After Drebin left the shoe shine man another person would consult him such as Dick Clark wanting to know of the latest trends in music.The series flopped in the USA and only lasted six episodes. In the UK it became cult viewing even though it was never fully networked when first shown but the British rather appreciated the humour more.Of course this type of comedy was never going to be able to be sustained the course of a full length US series.Never to let a good idea lie low, the makers relaunched the Frank Drebin as a hit Naked Gun film series and they even used many of the same gags from the TV show.

I remember watching Police Squad! when it first came on ABC in 1982 and I thought it was a very funny show, thanks to the many sight gags, non sequitors and scripts filled with word play. In one episode, there was a line where a man named Once was shot twice. But unfortunately, ABC canceled the show after only six episodes. I felt it deserved a much longer run but a network executive thought the show demanded too much attention of the viewer because of all the sight gags in each episode. One that I remember was in the opening where the episode's title was different from the one shown on the screen. Leslie Nielsen's portrayal of Frank Drebin was deadpan, yet very funny and his role was in the narrative style of Jack Webb of Dragnet. Alan North did well and Peter Lupus, in one of his few roles since Mission: Impossible wasn't bad as Norberg, But the one character that stood out was Johnny the Shoeshine Boy, played by William Duell. After giving advice to Drebin, there were cameos from Dick Clark, Dr. Joyce Brothers and then Dodger manager Tommy LaSorda. Even though Police Squad! had a short life on ABC, the Zucker Brothers didn't give up on the concept which turned out even more successful in the Naked Gun movie franchise. I'll close with a regular closing gag. Freeze the ending right here.

After reading over all these reviews I'm very surprised to see that no one has even once noted that this show was based on the 1957 to 1960 NBC cop show "M Squad" starring Lee Marvin, i read reviews comparing it to "Dragnet" and some of the Quinn Martin police shows, but if you watch M Squad you'll see it was based on it. In the late 1958 episodes of M Squad onwards, you'll see Lee Marvin who plays Lieutenant Detective Frank Ballinger get out of his car and then hes shot at,and he shoots back, the beginning of Police Squad is basically the same ( including the Jazz music) and then Lee Marvin narrates what goes on, (Im Lieutenant Detective Frank Ballinger,M Squad,a special department of the Chicago police) and in Police Squad Leslie Neilsen does the same (Im Detective Lieutenant Frank Drebin, Police Squad, a special division of the Police Department) and so on, in one of the M Squad episodes there's even the Johnny the shoeshine guy character and in a M Squad episode entitled " More Deadly" there's a Police Squad episode entitled "A Substantial Gift (The Broken Promise)" which is the same story!
