Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

It's really easy to dismiss Pacific Heat as an Archer clone. Heck, the Message Boards right here say as much. And I thought I read somewhere where someone dismissed it without even finishing the pilot episode. The bottom line is, yes Pacific Heat is very Archer- ish, although nowhere as good. That said, as the old adage goes, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".If one were to take the time and watch the whole season, Pacific Heat does finally hit its stride about mid-season. I will admit at first it was a little jarring, with its not-quite Archer/Frisky Dingo animation, its flat voice acting, and its dimwitted characters. But somewhere mid-season I found myself falling for these quirks, and found I really liked this show. And personally I feel we need more cartoons geared for us kids who never grew up. Reviews and ratings hold power over these shows, and personally I'd hate for this show to be canceled because no-one took the time to let this show grow on them.I won't say much about the show itself. But I will say give it a chance. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised.

***WARNING: CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS***I understand that there are some complaints about this show, which mainly fall under two categories, which I shall address in-turn: 1) It's too racist 2) It's a rip-off of ArcherMost people who make the first claim have only really watched the pilot episode, and have openly admitted it in their reviews. I agree: the PILOT episode has a lot of excessive faux- racism. It is meant to make-fun of the casual racism in action/police/noir movies by portraying it hyperbolically, but it goes a little too far. For this reason, I would recommend skipping the pilot episode. It's not that great, not really important to the rest of the series, and gives a bad first-impression of an otherwise-good show. And I believe that the producers realized their errors as well, as the next episode that features Mr. Bang-Choi (S1 E14: A Return To Evil) is a lot less "haha Asians sound funny" and a lot more parody of Phoenix Wright (the sword on the cushion is a reference to the sword in Edgeworth's Office, and the pause before the jury delivers their verdict of Not Guilty is reminiscent of the Judge at the end of each case in PW:AA) and Bladerunner (the clap- controlled office lights/blinds/lamp are a reference to the office of Dr. Tyrell in the Harrison Ford movie). The second claim isn't really valid or fair. I've watched both Archer and Pacific Heat, but where Archer was basically the mindless drivel of South Park with spies, Pacific Heat was actually funny, and didn't rely solely on sexual references or profanity for humor. The humor is very blink-and-you'll-miss-it, and reaches a diverse array of sources: art, lawyers, the law, environmentalism, environmental denial-ism, partisan politics, science, paid leave, cops, criminals, nukes, the military, and egotism are just some of the topics mocked by this frankly hilarious satire. Would recommend to a friend, minus the pilot.

I have no idea why people are hating on this show. I love it's dark humor (Monkey Dust is a personal favorite of mine), the rapid fire delivery (so you never know when a joke is coming (just like Harvey Birman, Attorney at Law). Yes, a lot of the jokes are dumb, but so are they in most comedies. The animation style is rough, true, but who cares? If you are watching a show for beautiful animation ... what show ARE you satisfied with? And the animation is rough in other shows, too, like The Life and Times and Tim and South Park, etc. That doesn't make them bad shows. And if you can't understand what they are saying that is your problem. True, the fast line delivery and the fact the characters talk over each other does make some of the dialogue difficult to make it, but that is its comedy style and I love it. It is one of those shows that will pay off on multiple viewings where you will catch things you missed on the first viewing. If you love twisted, dumb, dry humor you should like this a lot. Thank you Netflix for bringing the show to my attention.

Its seems as though the show is trying too hard to be the next Archer, unsuccessfully I must say. Good idea poor execution, It lacks comedic timing that makes other adult cartoon shows work and the jokes seem stale. Its only redeeming quality is that the animation quality is pretty good. Netflix doesn't often get a miss, and Im not saying its a miss, but its close. When compared to other Netflix animated hits like Bojack horseman this one just doesn't stack up. I only watched the pilot so maybe it gets better with each episode, and i do hope so. Its a shame for good animation go to waste because the story wasn't adequately developed in preproduction. If this was a soap opera I would have probably watched all of it, but for what it is I cannot continue to watch it.
