Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
RavenGlamDVDCollector I well remember that this show premiered on Friday 2 July 1992 just after seven p.m. on SABC TV 1. During those days, we still had plentiful access to good ol' American entertainment, nowadays it is mostly just local junk filling the airwaves.I distinctly remember reading that this show was cancelled because Connie Selleca was a bit too much like her character. But she was very watchable, and even though I found some episodes less appealing glamor-wise, I'd still dearly love to see this again. Downloaded promo, intro and tiny snippets, but tried using Wikipedia episode information to search for and get to full episodes, but there doesn't seem to be any. Scoured for it on Amazon too, but no luck besides books that mention it.For the reviewer looking for the song, find the intro on WapNext. There is more than one option, scroll down a bit further, the first one I encountered had very poor image quality. The second is perfect, but you will just be left out in the cold when it ends with no episode tagged onto it. How sad!July - Aug 1992 is a very long time ago, and, as usual, I have just a vague memory of this. Like I said, some episodes were less attractive to me, hence my reduced rating, but this had a whole lot of great potential! Very big sentimental value to me to have seen the intro again. Pardon this shoddy review, I am obliged to say something about the stuff I'm trying to recapture on DVD. Little chance here, though...
John Seger I was a big fan of this show as well. I lived in Palm Springs when this show was being filmed. somebody on here stated the cancellation was due to sets destroyed by an earthquake. There was no major earthquake that year. Besides, the series was filmed on location in Palm Springs and it's surrounding cities. I watched them film many times, as they used the hotel(Hyatt Grand Champions Resort) that I worked for, in many scenes, inside and outside. The office where their boss works was filmed at Marriott Desert Springs resort. The house that the main characters shared in the show is an actual house in Palm Springs. So what was the reason for it's cancellation, then? Well, the show debuted as a two hour premier on a Sunday evening and made the top ten. However, when the show started airing in it;s own Saturday 10pm time slot, the ratings declined very fast. But a couple months later, CBS aired the show one time on a thursday 9pm time slot as a test. The show ranked in the top 30 shows for the week. And two nights later for it's normal time slot, the ratings drastically improved. During the December hiatus, Connie told CBS and the production company that if the series was picked up for the full season after hiatus, she wanted to film in Los Angeles on a sound stage, closer to her home. She made a few remarks about this in a few interviews, at that time as well. Going as far as saying since the ratings went back up, CBS would fulfill her requests in order to keep the show on the air. She stated if the show was picked up for the remainder of the season, she'd only return if CBS did this for her. CBS didn't want to film the series in a studio. They had a great deal with the city of Palm Springs and the surrounding areas. And with Connie hinting she might not honor her contract, CBS decided to cancel the show. It wasn't a long running show yet, it was expensive to shoot, and here is the co-star trying to make demands. I noticed Connie hasn't had a starring role in any television series since.
nharmonyu2 I remember the show and was a fan as well. I never missed an episode. Yes, the theme song was great! You got me reminiscing and I just listened to it again on a trailer online. I felt Connie Selleca & Greg Evigan had great chemistry. Of course, I was a big Connie Selleca fan from her days on another show with a great theme song, "The Greatest American Hero". You're right, P.S. I. Luv U was something really unique.I was confused and disappointed when the show ended so suddenly. I remember watching a interview with Connie Selleca shortly after the show was canceled. It's cancellation had nothing to do with low ratings or studio politics. As I recall, the show fell victim to a real disaster - a fire or earthquake or some catastrophic event which destroyed the set and ended the series.
elshikh4 Let me till you, this one had a lot of bad luck. First it got canceled after only 13 episodes, and then I found nothing at the trivia section about the reason why they canceled it, and further than that I found no one at all wrote anything about it at the comment section like it didn't ever happen ?!! Why is that ?!! It was a good, nice, and sexy one. Yes, the story wasn't that new but the plot was ! We've had this story so many times (a chased good one who is chasing the bad ones) and of course the original for it was the old TV hit (The Fugitive) from 1963 to 1967. Actually the makers of the American TV shows consumed it too many times in too many plots or forms such as : Hot Pursuit (1984), Renegade (1992), Vanishing Son (1995), 18 Wheels of Justice (2000). But as for P.S.I. Luv U (1991) the plot was so attractive, there was no violence in here just action comedy with a slight touch of another earlier original series like (Hotel) or maybe (The Love Boat), putting in mind that exquisite landscapes, females and the hot pace of that summery hotel. GOD that was good. Perhaps the most enjoyable one of its previous and next likes. Not to forget the talents of (Bob Shayne). He was a main writer and a co-producer here. This man worked as a writer in other shows like : Simon & Simon, Murder She Wrote, Remington Steele, Magnum P.I, Hart to Hart.. I think my point is so obvious. And you'll be as sad as me when you know that he was a writer and producer of Cover Up (1984) which's another great canceled show !! Although I'm not a big fan of (Connie Sellecca) but she was one persuasive reason to watch the show because her lively performance, sexual attraction, and her productive cemetery with (Greg Evigan), she was in here like that show itself : extraordinary. Even the (P.S.I. Luv U) theme song was so catchy beautiful ! I don't know why exactly this show had that kind of bad luck, and this kind of ignoring to the extent that my comment is the first one about it in 16 years !?? GUYS it wasn't by any chance that forgettable ??!
