Good movie but grossly overrated

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

New girl had a nice, solid first season. It was funny, it was witty, it was interesting, it had the friendship, woman-man dynamics and americans in their late twenties living together theme. Second season was just mediocrity. Third season tried to hard. For the fourth season, I've decided to get advise from the fellow viewers and their reviews about it and I came to a conclusion that it is just a waste of time. So, maybe watch the two first season and leave it there, if you want to try this one, something that the producers of this show should have done as well. Or at least, they should have provided fresh material and entertaining jokes. The characters change in the blink of an eye and not in a good way. The romance is just boring, the jokes old and tiring after being repeated for some seasons now, the actors look like they themselves got tired of this show and overall, the plot drags. So 3 out of 10.

At the urging of my dear, I agreed last night to watch the episode or two of the series that I have long been avoiding, just to get her off my back. And ... we watched the whole first season. Guys, this is so much fun and addictive that I could see all 150 episodes in a row. It's not some top-notch quality show, but in more than few occasions I laughed out loud, and it is quite rare for me. It's obvious that it's inspired by "Friends", but it's not a bad copy that steals old jokes and it really has a soul. Warm recommendation.7,5/10

So, my 15-year old wanted me to watch "New Girl" with him. There's not much plot, so the show really relies on character development to engage its watchers. It's basically about a girl who for some odd reason, needs to live with 3 random men-The dream of all mothers of daughters, right? All of the characters are 30 year olds with no real drive or depth. They just act dumb, say silly things and "pose" a lot. "New Girl" has a few fun moments (I can't remember right now). However, the premise is so lame and Zoe Deschanel's character, "Jess", is so contrived and vapid that I actually cringe when she speaks. Her naive character is so forced that it is actually insulting to its audience. She dresses like a large preschooler and talks really, really slowly. So yes, I guess you could say that I'm not a huge fan. The worst part (which is why I'm here typing away) is when the Dad of one of Jess' students (I have no idea which Season this is...half the time I fall asleep) comes into play. He's creepy-old for her and there's no real reason for them to be together. There's no chemistry, but the question lingers, "Why would a wealthy, established, older man fall for such a dumb-a**?" Well....Ewww, I won't go there. Great message for the teen crowd for sure. And of course, Jesse says silly stuff and gets drunk so the Dad-date needs to "save" her. Yikes - It's THAT bad. I do like the CeCe character. She's the second main female character. She's beautiful, intelligent, and seems to know what she wants without acting moronic. Anyway....I know that this is a rambling mess, but I couldn't sit on my couch and take it! What we do to bond with our kids!
