Kirpianuscus It is easy to define it as an old fashion British crime serie. different for rhytm and texture and spirit by American productions of same genre. in fact, it represents more. first, a special character,for realistic stories, for humor and for the science to be more than a brilliant crime serie. it is a trip in Midsomer universe, exploring its habits and people and vulnerabilities. not a lesson about justice but, often, a compassion one. a gifted serie. real fascinating.

bonjevalien So my sweet girlfriend and I have been on an extended binge of watching some of the best shows ever hatched (starting with Breaking Bad- give full credit; BB was not just a show, it launched the binge-watching habit in spades!) So after watching everything clever for more than a year, MM is so welcome! Hint to new viewers: it's not your imagination- there are LOTs of older characters. My GF and I are in our 50's... We love the architecture, the countryside, the eccentric characters, the laugh-out-loud shocking statements, accusations, English Countryside intrigues. If I'm honest, I'm ok with this show telling you EXACTLY what's happening every step of the way. After all the bingeing, we've had so many super-slick shows with dark, obscured, convoluted plots and we are always forgetting who is whom. This show has the sex, the murders, the good stuff and the folks all stay pretty folksy! It's a breath of fresh air!!

Cynthia Perkins I have watched this series since the beginning but I confess to being disappointed. I find the constant changes in DI's annoying as I get fond of one and then they get a new one. I realize this may not be the creator/producers fault(or perhaps it is) yet it is very tiresome. Also it seems Christianity take a hit a lot. I think I'm ready to call it a day because it's just boring now. I miss the John Nettles era very much.

Khun Kru Mark Stick a fork in it!I used to watch this series when it first arrived on the scene and enjoyed it. As the ideas ran out and the same faces kept returning I slowly just couldn't be bothered anymore...Well, it's 2017 so I thought I'd give it another go, beginning with the latest series twenty years later (2017) with a new Detective Barnaby.I liked John Nettles but I didn't mind a change. The sound of him wheezing through his lines towards the end of his run was painful to watch. So now we have Neil Dudgeon at the helm and he's a lot like the last chap... happily married and plodding through the clues. And he, too, has a new companion... the dullest man in Britain - Nick Hendrix. The man has the gravitas of wet paint.But more importantly; the new series is just like every other episode I have ever seen... mysterious camera angles from behind the bushes, absurd two- dimensional and horribly clichéd characters from middle England each with a bucket of red herrings to chuck about the scenery.The script is generally awful so at least that hasn't changed! The locations, camera angles, the microcosmic view of insulated white England, the cringe-worthy Trever Eve school of overacting... it's all there.It's like watching an episode of Scooby Doo... the only bit worth watching is when they rip off the mummy's bandages at the end! Pesky kids! It's pornography for middle-Englanders and seriously Anglophilic Americans and that's probably the market. If you're new to this long-running police drama then you may stick around to see the bandages come off at the end... if you're curious about how an old love looks after a few years apart... you'll be disappointed. It hasn't aged well - it hasn't aged at all!
