Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

Ed-Shullivan It is not very often where you have one crime TV series cancelled only to be replaced with many of the original cast members but excluding the major star (Kyra Sedgwick) of the original crime series and to have such an enduring presence for years to come.I must say that week in and week out Major Crimes generated a suspenseful and entertaining crime program in which each of the detectives and their new leader Captain Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) all played significant and independent thinking detectives with an eclectic personality. Mrs. Shullivan and I have discussed this TV series on many occasions and we both agree that theirs is an all star cast, second to none.If I had to pick a single favorite detective I just could not. If I had to pick a favorite episode from the series 105 episodes spanning six (6) seasons I just could not. I will however say that the Major Crimes unit were all unique personalities and during each episode I just was never sure what to expect, which detective(s) would leave us with an inspiring ending, with a humanistic approach to crime solving because there were just far to many great stories to choose from.This group of detectives especially Captain Raydor whose husband Jackson Raydor (Tom Berenger), she was seperated from due to his drinking and gambling problems as well as just not being a good husband and/or father to their two (2) now adult children. Unlike many TV series the producers allowed the audience to recognize that Captain Raydor was a devout Catholic by religious faith, but always struggled with her decisions amongst her family members (divorce isa dirty word for Captain Raydor) including the adoption of a near adult named Rusty who was under her direct witness protection in a murder case, as well as in her methods of capturing the criminals.I must say that the "like father and son" relationship that the curmudgeonly detective Louie Provenza (G.W. Bailey) and the 17 year old witness under police protection Rusty Beck (Graham Patrick Martin) shareded was very endearing. The emotional and "take no prisoners" approach that the tough as nails, wild eyed detective Julio Sanchez (Raymond Cruz) displayed was also one of my favorites. But having said that, each of the detectives including detective Mike Tao (Michael Paul Chan) their technical data guru, detective Amy Sykes (Kearran Giovanni) with her military surveillance background, recovering alcoholic detective Andy Flynn (Tony Denison) who followed his captain Raydor around like a love lost puppy dog, and their videographer Buzz Watson (Phillip P. Keene) all were such interesting characters. All the supporting cast such as the police chief, deputy district attorney and coroner played key roles a well.Without question though this series is rated a 10 due mainly to the high quality team of the series writers who are far too many to mention and the show creator James Duff who also created the predecessor crime series "The Closer". I give this series a perfect 10 out of 10 with such an amazing cast from book-end to book-end and without failure, a suspenseful and dramatic series with superior quality writing throughout the series lifespan of an amazing 105 episodes. I will definitely be looking to purchase this "complete series" when it becomes available to purchase.

samara-gale Why is the spin off built around this little punk? The Closer was built around Brenda and it was always entertaining. Kyra Sedgwick is a great actress. Mary McDonnell speaks like she is singing a song in slow motion and has absolutely no facial expression. Is this what botox does to your face or is she just a rotten actress? I keep waiting for her fake hair to fall off. ps Hairdressers for this show please note: Extensions are not meant for 65 year old women. The Closer was great; I loved it. The spin off stinks.

barcodez-1 Between these long story arcs to the contrived personal lives of the major characters, this show has gone downhill. I used to love it (and the Closer) when it was a very well-acted, well-written police drama. Probably one of the best since NYPD Blue. I enjoyed that the character backgrounds and personal quirks were merely backdrop to the weekly crime-to-solve.The last couple seasons they pushed the characters' lives to the forefront. Starting with the sometimes-likable Rusty, add in another foster kid, several romantic relationships. And now an illness in a major character. The cop drama seems to get pushed to the side for the soap opera that lasts all season, if not longer.And both the characters stories and the crime ones are forcing their relevance SJW style. We couldn't just have a typical husband-kills-wife with a twist... oh no, Now we have to have gay marriage, illegals, a sanctuary city debate, racist rednecks, sexual harassment. This last episode - 6.7 - tries too damn hard. I mean, sexual assault... no, wait: rape... no, wait: rape in the hotel room, with spiked drinks! How obvious can you get that they're trying too hard to stay relevant.Finally, we have these four-episode story arcs about a single crime. It throws off the pacing. There's too much to keep track of. The writers have to rehash details you learned in the first episode, less you forget by episode 4. Things that seemed really important sort of just disappear from the story by the last episode. One or two, yes. Four is too long.Like many shows, this series just tried to squeeze one too many seasons out of it. Season 5 should've ended with a wedding and everyone happily ever after. Now it's just going to leave a bad taste in the mouth.

ezwanenvelt After the lying, conniving, egotistical, jealous, immoral, often hysterical and rude Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) in The Closer, the show in which the character of Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) originated, her elevating to the lead role is a really, really good improvement. Raydor's polite, composed, compassionate and professional approach to solving the crime of the week is a joy to watch. Kudos for Mary McDonnell, who stars in the lead role.Most of the characters in Major Crimes came from The Closer. Lieutenant Louie Provenza (G. W. Bailey), the crusty old professional, is here, as is the cynical but passionate Lieutenant Andy Flynn (Tony Denison). Also from The Closer are the over-explaining Lieutenant Michael Tao (Michael Paul Chan), the tough Detective Julio Sanchez (Raymond Cruz) with his heart of gold and the dependable Buzz Watson (Phillip P. Keene). I liked them in The Closer, and I like them even more in Major Crimes, because it seems that the departure of Sedgwick's character, who totally dominated The Closer, gave the writers more opportunity to flesh-out each of these characters. The team of Major Crimes is completed with a new character, Detective Amy Sykes (Kearran Giovanni), who is a HUGE improvement on Detective Sergeant Gabriel (Corey Reynolds), who was very much Johnson's creature and who seemed to think that attitude and closed-mindedness equals personality. Never forgave Gabriel for the way he treated his colleague and short-time love interest Irene Daniels (Gina Ravera), who left The Closer after the fourth season of that show. Choosing Rynolds over Racera never made much sense to me.In short, I like the way the spin-off transformed The Closer into a show I love, and in which I don't have to endure Brenda Leigh Johnson, or her backbone-lacking boss Will Pope (J. K. Simmons). Special Agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney), Johnson's totally, and I mean totally, uninteresting love-interest in The Closer, was successfully transformed into one of Sharon Raydor's colleagues in Major Crimes.One thing though: I could do with a little less of Rusty Beck (Graham Patrick Martin), Raydor's adopted son and another character which originated in The Closer, even if he started out as an interesting character.All in all, I think Major Crimes is a very entertaining show and I look forward to the sixth season!
