Working for the FBI's Deep Cover Operations division, Martin Odum can transform himself into a different person -- whether it's an assignment as a Serbian extremist, a corrupt Chicago police officer, a British special forces colonel, or a legendary computer hacker. But when he learns that his life, itself, may be a lie, he faces the demands of his job and a desire to solve the mystery of his identity. And given the choice between the two, Odum doesn't always make the right decision.

Legends Audience Reviews

BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Tss5078 Based on the terrific novel by Robert Littell, and brought to television by the same team that gave us 24 and Homeland, two summers ago, TNT treated us to the show, Legends. The show featured spectacular action, edge of your seat drama, and some of the best writing on television, but it was gone after just twenty episodes. Some viewers had a problem with the casting of Sean Bean, as the lead character, but the real issue was with a network that just couldn't leave well enough alone.Martin Odum (Sean Bean) is a man who is told that he doesn't exist. Odum the best CIA undercover agent in the game is approached on the street one day, told that there has been an accident, and ever since that day, he has bought his own cover or legend and now believes he is this man Martin Odum, but who is he really? It's a slippery slope for Odum, as he tries to continue doing his job, while at the same time trying to figure out who he is and why he's posing as a CIA agent. With this series, TNT wasn't only getting a show that was created by arguably one of America's best espionage writers, but they also got the team that single-handedly changed the face of television drama, with nine seasons of the innovative show, 24, and the continuing drama of Homeland. These people know what they're doing, but even after a successful first season, the network wanted more, and decided to drop the current storyline and replace almost the entire cast for season two. Fans were expecting to continue where they left off and instead, were trust into the middle of what amounted to a brand new show. A brand new show that was hardly advertised and was cancelled immediately after the end of season 2.Sean Bean stars and while he fits the character of Odum, as a forty-something British guy, fans of Bean know that he always plays the bad guy, most notable in the film, National Treasure. Seeing Bean as one of the good guys does take an adjustment, but a lot of time he's undercover as one of the bad guys, so it's really not as strange as his fans make it out to be....and what was the purpose for replacing the original cast? It's not as if they were all inexperienced newcomers. Ali Larter is beautiful and a network veteran of shows like Heroes, Steve Harris has seemingly been in everything, and Morris Chesnutt was a revelation on the re-launch of the show V a few years back.Legends had all the makings of a terrific show, with outstanding writers, directors, producers, and an experienced cast, but the network it was on wanted huge ratings from the show and when they didn't happen immediately, TNT threw in the towel. I enjoyed the undercover angles, the humor, the action, and of course the drama, of Legends, and Sean Bean in particular gives some of the best performances of his career, but it was all for not as the plug was pulled before things even got started. If you want to know the real truth behind Martin Odum, you're just going to have to suck it up and read the book.
angeleyes786 TNT knew this was going to be a loser which is why they put it on the air with Agent X. Producers and directors just do not understand what drives American television. To complicate matters this premiered during the Paris attacks. TNT would have been smart to pull the episodes but since they knew the show was DOA for season 2 they let it go on. Sean Bean is a great actor, it's ashamed S2 deteriorate from S1. I know I wanted to see him use the same skills that kept him alive during the flashback bombings which will keep him alive and pursuing the people who framed him during S2. I think many of use hoped it would be a new version of Burn Notice. As usual, cable television takes good TV like Complications (I know people will trash me for this but it was a great show)and put on these loser shows which we reject. I think cable TV should have to be true with their ratings and put on TV the people want and vote for! The writers (aka show runners)control what we watch, we need to let them know what we want to watch! TNT you killed a good show in Legends! My opinion, of course!
judy Legends is an interesting take for a Spy show. The first season was good and concentrated mostly on Sean Bean's character but the second season has opened up the world for Martin Odom and that's where it fails a little. I think this format is too intricate and complicated for most people to follow. I find that I have to watch an episode three times before I understand everything; that's too much for the average viewer. This should would do better as a HBO or Showtime series. On those channels people expect complicated not on TNT. I was sad to hear that it was canceled and I doubt that NETFLIX or someone else would pick it up. I wish Amazon would consider it. I would watch.
Alberto Logan Started watching season 1 on Netflix, first couple of episodes were good, the idea is good and could have gone in a very good direction but sadly it unraveled. I wanted so bad to be unlike the so many police shows out there and for once have some bad things happen to good people simply because that is life. I wanted to be more realistic than the other over the top shows but it derailed in the later episodes leading to the finale. Basically turned into a John Rambo kind of show, except it's and FBI agent and a couple of his buddies who are going to take down governments, global corporations and even powerful politicians. This is as far from real life as it gets, Martin who is of advanced age in the show is getting the snot beat out of him and first chance he gets, he simply stands up kills everyone in the room except one guy. Wow, he must have superhuman powers, same for his wife, you can send highly trained assassins but are no match for this FBI agents and his wife. The shootout in the safe house, Martin takes out all of the bad guys with a weapon that never runs out of ammo. Wouldn't such a powerful organization sent a small army of maybe 50 highly trained soldiers for hire? maybe it would have not matter, Martin and his wife would have killed all of them. I hate shows that take their hero over the top, why not make them more human, like suffering pain, broken bones and even making mistakes. My guess is that in season 2 Martin will take down the Saudi government, the corrupt big dogs in the CIA, FBI and anybody else who gets in his way. I wonder who would win between Martin and John McClane. I like Sean Bean better in game of thrones and Lord of the Rings, which is more realistic, a man with strengths and flaws which pays the ultimate price, nothing wrong with death of a major character.
