This is a fun show about lone crimefighter Michael Long, who after an accident is rehabilitated and takes on the name Michael Knight. He continues his mission in fighting crime with his new car named "KITT", a high-performance sports car fitted with artificial intelligence.This show is full of action and adventures from start to finish - great acting and suspenseful stories. I especially like seeing Michael riding in his super-car, armed with unorthodox weapons and artificial intelligent brains, fending off one challenge one after the other, with KITT speaking to him through the car's computer.This is just the perfect kind of action TV show that is not over-the-top or overly violent, but can still attract many viewers with its good guy vs. bad guy elements and unique adventures. I also enjoyed the mysterious music score as well, perfect for the slick looking car and the action-adventure themes.Grade A

KNIGHT RIDER was total wish fulfillment for a kid. Who wouldn't want a high-tech explosive car that banters in a haughty voice? And it still works for me as an adult because I like the premise: one guy traveling from one town to the next solving crimes. It's a Western with a sweet ride. Hasselhoff knew how to play the eager-to-please Michael Knight and rocked the hell out of the lanky all-in-black look. Give him some facial hair and a pimp cane, and Garth's probably the most entertaining mirror-universe bad guy on TV. Even when the show was cheesy it was still fun. But it's really about the car. And let's be honest: K.I.T.T.'s an awesome piece of hardware. Sure, he'd have gadgets for whatever the story needed, but half the fun was watching him fly through the air, blast through walls and tear through the streets. He's super fast, ultra sleek and an '80s icon, no question. 7/10

What part of "campy adventure show" do some of the posters of negative reviews not understand? Was K.I.T.T.'s Super Pursuit Mode any less realistic than Lost In Space with its 7-foot-tall talking robot? Theatrical greatness, neither show could claim, but both were entertaining! I was 17 when Knight Rider premiered, but the concept of a car capable of driving itself appealed to me on multiple levels.1 -- Being severely nearsighted and thus knowing that driving was forever beyond my ability barring some massive technological breakthrough.2 -- Familiarity due to many years of self-taught electronics knowledge with technologies known as "Loran C" (a precursor of GPS) and an early versions of "Global Hawk" capable of navigating a 4,000-mile flight within an accuracy of +/- 1/4 inch. Such technology required a human operator only to navigate in the presence of other moving objects, but could navigate a fixed path automatically in the absence of other traffic.The 2008 series which I affectionately call "Knight Rider Jr." among fellow fans is also very entertaining. I'm a weekly viewer of "Knight Rider Jr." at 43 just as I was of the original show when I was 18.

I have a pet peeve when it comes to TV/movies, and Glen Larson is one of the worst offenders I've ever seen. That is, in a show, when a bunch of characters are watching a video on TV, they sometimes watch video that nobody in the show shot. The video they are watching could only have been obtained by the camera man filming the show. This is a giant blunder!! I've recently seen a few episodes of this show on RTN and there was an event such as this in almost every show I watched. You may argue that KITT has the magical ability to take video where there is no camera, but Larson also did this in Magnum P.I. I think it's more of an M.O. for Larson's work than KITT's abilities. I wonder if he was hoping we were not bright enough to notice.
