The Worst Film Ever
Suman Roberson
It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

If you enjoy games shows, particularly the modern kind (a'la Millionaire or Weakest Link,) the game play of this show is right up your alley. Taking a lead from those types of shows, the premise of this show is simple. Teams of two face a variety of challenges relating to collectibles and antiques, and their worth. It gets progressively harder with higher money amounts until the big finale. Think Antiques Roadshow meets The Price is Right. The problem comes with the host, Cedric the Entertainer, and the various gimmicks and catch phrases of the show. Cedric is dramatically out of his element. Even if you find him funny (which I never did anyway,) here he feels stale. It seems like every joke is being fed to him through an earpiece (and it probably is.) They're really forcing the catch phrases, too. For instance, in an attempt to mimic Millionaire's "Is that your final answer?", in each episode Cedric informs the contests: "In this show you can't just be sure. You have to be SURE SURE." From the on, every time they give an answer, they have to say "I'm SURE SURE" to make it final. It's painful to watch how uncomfortable this makes everyone involved. With focus on more exciting game play and less on cheesy one-liners and marketable sayings, this should could stick around!

If I could give this show zero stars, that would be about right. Annoying, beaten-to-death catch phrases such as "are you sure sure" and the show's title phrase "it's worth what?" got old very, very quickly. Slow paced, uninteresting, and too long are apt descriptors. Cedric makes a decent comic actor, but either this show is not a good fit for him or it needs some serious re-tooling.It felt like one of those long, tedious, not very funny Saturday Night Live skits that just doesn't know where to stop and end the viewers' pain. Revamp it, pick up the pace, give it more excitement, and maybe it stands a chance of becoming a decent game show.

Worst Game Show Ever pretty much sums it up, but IMDb requires at least 10 lines per review. I'm not sure I can expound upon this show's dullness for a full 10 lines. It's less entertaining than the local lottery show that the Detroit NBC affiliate produces once every 3 or 4 months to preempt Jeopardy with. It's like the worst Price is Right game played over and over for a full hour. Except without any of the suspense or entertainment that comes with Price is Right (as little as that is). Excruciating painful. I don't know what Cedric the Entertainer is usually like, but he's terrible in this. In the background I can see audience members in the studio yawning. Hopefully it gets canceled before airing a second episode.Worst Game Show Ever. I'm "sure, sure".
