rawlins-girl i find it quite interesting that there only way of survival is by going round chopping other peoples heads of and never ageing its quite interesting the only bit i find a little boring is the quickening because you see how other immortals handle it like in the episode the modern phomethues the man levitate. i also like the idea of a Scotsman who has lived for over 400 years and comes face to face with other immortals and maybe even have fallen in love with some of them and if you have ever seen highlander the raven you would love highlander because the Amanda thats in it makes some appearance in highlander as an thief. there is also a new immortal by the name of Richie Ryan who Duncan must teach ho to survive in the immortal world. there is also an immortal who has been around for 5000 years and Duncan nust find him and save him from an immortal who wants him dead.

For my part, I belong to the so-called "first movie purists", who say that there can be only one movie, because all the sequels and TV series have utterly failed to recapture the coolness of the first movie. I'd be happy to accept further movies, if only the story and the style were as cool as they're supposed to be. But this is apparently not possible.When I first saw the first episodes of Highlander: The Series, I was pretty disgusted. I watched a few more episodes, and then turned my back on the series. There is *everything* wrong with it. The Watchers?! An insufferable teenage sidekick?! Out of continuity with the first movie? And baaad writing. This whole series is an abomination of bad ideas and poor execution. The core Highlander concept is brilliant, and an infinite amount of cool stuff *could* have been done with it. I consider Highlander the most mismanaged franchise in the history of popular entertainment.BUT - being such a big fan of the original story and concept, I keep thirsting for more material. And now I've discovered that the insufferable sidekick, Richie Ryan (who, to make matters worse, ends up becoming immortal), is not in the last couple of seasons (at least not much), whereas the darkly delicious Amanda (Elizabeth Gracen, who later got her own series, "Highlander: The Raven") becomes a regular, and Duncan's lover, to boot. This makes the last season(s) much more interesting and watchable, and the writing seems to have improved a bit, too. So, if a die-hard Highlander fan - even a purist - absolutely has to get his fix, the last season will do the trick. The stories aren't much, but at least the characters have regained some small shred of coolness, thanks to the almost intoxicating presence of Elizabeth Gracen.Overall grade: 3 out of 10, for botching up such a great set of characters and concepts.Last season grade: 5 out of 10.

smtuxmask This has to be one of the best Sci-Fi series out there. Adrian Paul is an excellent actor and fits the part perfect as Duncan. The first season was really over the top with Tessa. Duncan and Tessa made an excellent couple.All in all, an excellent series. Only thing is, it should have went on for some more seasons, but running as many years as it did is indication enough to tell you it's a great series. Highlander fans will love it.I always like how Duncan has the 'flashbacks' to previous 'lives'. Just adds to the character and shows what he had to do and go through throughout his immortal life.

manicmyk Season Four of Highlander is a great place for new viewers to start on this incredible series. The Characters are defined and the cast and crew are comfortable with each other in the concept they have created. Duncan MaCleod has gone through hell in the previous three seasons losing almost everything several times to both immortal and human villains. Unfortunately, for Duncan, the one enemy he hasn't faced yet is himself and the one thing he hasn't almost lost or given up is his mind. It is hard for a genre series to pull off the good guy gone bad concept but, highlander does it beautifully and the episodes are so well contained with in the one hour time frame in this season that new viewers wont be completely lost.
