Great Planes Audience Reviews

Micitype Pretty Good
Noutions Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Zlatica One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
andrew muhling I watched one show (the Catalina) and that is enough. Why do documentary maker edit stuff like it's a music video and do cometary like it's a Hollywood drama? I'm not an idiot that needs to be kept awake by over the top, excited 16 year old boy, narration.. I sat down to watch this documentary because I was interested in the subject. There's no need to sell it to me like it's going to whiten my teeth the other side of sparkling.. I'm already on board, all you have to is tell the story. Then jerky, chop, cutaway, blur.. The editing of various scenes on that episode just about gave me tourettes. They also spelled the name of our national airline wrong. There is no "u" in Qantas..If all the episodes in this series are produced this way I'd avoid them..Fail fail fail..
Fox365 This series would be great - if it really showcased the Great Planes. And there are some great planes on the list, including some not featured on the repetitive "best of" or "top ten" shows. But the show is totally ruined by the camera work. It appears to have been shot by a ferret with ADD on caffeine who just bought his first movie camera and wants to try out all the features. Not only are the transitions incredibly frequent, they are accompanied by distracting 'swoosh' sound effects. The camera jerks around, never staying with a shot for long enough to make any impact. The program should tell a story, instead, it's a series of film snippets strung together in a haphazard fashion. It's almost unwatchable. It is about to the standard of the home movies of the 1950s in terms of the photographic techniques employed.Frequently, the wrong aircraft is shown, or the narrator talks about one aircraft when another is being shown on-screen. The narration is disjointed, and seems to have no overall flow. The bottom line is that this could and should have been a great series. But it should be renamed "Great Planes - Terrible Cinematography"
