As Good As It Gets
Doomtomylo
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

What's in a title? I'm not a religious person, but very early on I thought, oh, no "God" of any kind in this flick! I get why they called it Godless. There is not one frame, one moment, one anything that isn't "sweet jesus, what a god forsaken lot". I suspect in the real west there was maybe one joke told, a moment of joy, a chuckle, some love....once or even twice. Not in this show. It's a great cast. Really well acted. Well shot. It's very well done. So I gave it 8 stars, As it's really just my personal preference that fiction borrows from the tone of real life, which will always be varied. Nothing, even on my beloved father's death bed, was all this bleak. But it's totally fair that the creators wanted to paint only the (very) dark side - hence, "God-less". totally fair. And well executed. I appreciated how Deadwood painted with a broader palette. (my fav show) But why remake Deadwood they may have thought? Rightly so, and Fair enough. If you like witnessing existences that were only unrelentingly harsh this show is for you and apparently the point.

This show has one of the most original and affecting storylines I've seen in any western or action series in a long time.Despite being a western, the action (that is some of the best I've seen in a western) does not in anyway impede the exploration of the numerous topics that this show addresses, questions that all have to do with the human soul: love, next of kin, the relationship between man and nature, danger, self-defense, cruelty, savagery, and insanity. The main characters are fascinating and my curiosity was well sated as the show progressively reveals more and more about them. Even the secondary characters sparked my interest, and they are nicely included in the story. It's important to note that the focus is made on women, especially women who took everything in hand the day their husbands disappeared.Besides the quality of the writing, the show never fails to convey emotion because it knows when to slow down, and that can be rare nowadays, depending on what kind of show you're looking for. Finally the shots of nature are amazing. And that makes it the perfect series if you want to escape after a long day of work.I would give it a 10 and not a 9 if there wasn't a few things that I would have loved to know more about, but in my heart it's still a 10.

So, if it were not for the final episode. I would of given this a 10.
Hands down.I've missed good western movies and shows. I just do not think 2018 politics / worldviews is a way to represent the wild west. I honestly just think it's bad. But, I forgave the show in the first episodes just because of how honestly good it was! Then the final episode comes, and it starts out great! And then... well. I had to really try to like it. When I find myself in a situation where I have to convince myself of: This is a movie, this makes sense because this and that. The immersion is broken and yeah. It's automatically not a 10 anymore. If you cant stick with the immersion and the close to realism in a western flick. (Close to, not fully on realistic. I dont want a fully realistic western movie, because I want OP gunslingers. That's basically how westerns work)
But, when it goes too far, it's bad. So, I'm giving it a 7/10 in all honesty endings have so much to say that I could be going for a 6 even. But, I wont. I'm being generous because it's honestly such a good show. They just rumped it up at the ending. Catastrophically.
