E-Ring is an American television military drama, created by Ken Robinson and David McKenna and executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, that premiered on NBC on September 21, 2005. The title of the show refers to the structure of The Pentagon, which is configured in five concentric rings, from "A" to "E", with E being the outermost ring. Before any military action can be taken anywhere in the world the mission must be planned and approved by the most important ring of the Pentagon, the E-ring. This is where the more high-profile work is done, all operations must be legally approved and the green light given by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The show starred Benjamin Bratt as Major James Tisnewski, a former Delta Force operator and Dennis Hopper as Colonel Eli McNulty, as officers working in the E-ring of the Pentagon in the Special Operations Division – planning and co-ordinating covert US special operations actions around the globe. The show struggled from the onset because it was up against ABC's Top 20 hit Lost, CBS's Top 30 hit Criminal Minds, FOX's Top 10 hit American Idol and the network's Top 30 hit Unan1mous. Although NBC gave it an earlier time slot which led to better ratings, the show was pulled from the lineup during the February sweeps and officially canceled at the NBC Upfront on May 15.

E-Ring Audience Reviews

Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Helllins It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
buiger Nothing special. The series never managed to get above par and actually become involving. The main problem was that the principal premise on which the whole thing is based was wrong. In each episode, the good guys are trying to convince the bad guys (the bureaucrats) that they need to utilize special ops for this or that reason. The result was basically boring after the first episode. So much more could have been made out of this. If they had used the time to explain the actual actions and how they are executed rather than for the haggling inside the pentagon, the series would have been much more involving.
cityjeppe By far the worst example of American war-on-terror propaganda so far. Summary: Muslims = evil terrorists. US military intelligence saves the world from Muslims. Civilian bureaucracy and international opinion is threatening to the nation just as much as terrorists. Europeans are bad. Israelis are good. Acting is limited to harsh faces and simple lines. The dialog is frightening bad and only serves the purpose of explaining how evil the terrorists are and how heroic the Americans are. There is a lame attempt to introduce a romance but is so utterly boring that watching ice freezing is more sexy. The producers also have thrown in the mandatory "good Muslim", just to explain that there are, in fact, some Muslims that are not rotten to the bone. In essence the show is nothing more than US propaganda. I have no doubt that the already brainwashed American audience will love this show. But for non-American viewers its just an other flabbergasting example of American ignorance and hawkish war-mongering. As long as shows like this keep pumping out its black and white pictures of complex political problems, there is little hope for the world. It's not only bad. It's dangerous.
Pamala I really enjoy E-ring, it is a riveting show, that while it may contain technical errors, is doing a good job of providing an hour's entertainment that I look forward to every week. I do wish the station would stop bouncing it around all over the place, though. Major Tisnewski is an ideal soldier, and the rest of the group seem to care about each other. It is a fast-paced drama that does require one to pay attention to keep up, but I usually find that it's easy to stay absorb in the show. The only problem I have with the show is I do wonder if a real person in Tisnewski's position would find himself in the field that often. I also hope the "love interest" with the lawyer doesn't go anywhere, I'd hate to see the show go down the road of a scandal caused by love. I think both are capable of finding true love elsewhere. Or, perhaps write Tisnewski into another position that would allow the affair to proceed without tarnishing their reputations.
dniezby I love this show. Sorry to those that feel the same. It seems that every show I love they cancel.Like "Over There" on FX. Though the advantage this show has over "Over There" is that they seem to have the networks support. NBC, seems to actually give shows a shot.Could you imagine if they didn't give Seinfeld the chance? It had some really lack-luster ratings for three years and then look what happened.Thankfully, E-Ring doesn't seem to have this problem and people will soon start to find the show. For those with the earlier comments about realism and lingo...Come on. It's a TV Show and it's designed to be entertaining not realistic. Even true stories add fluff to build up the drama and energy.Just sit back and enjoy.
