One common thing to hear, is how the kids TV shows aren't as good as they used to be, how those shows aren't made like they used to. A lot of people from Generation Y, have early childhood memories of kids shows that aired in the '80s and '90s and memories of Saturday morning cartoons. However, so many people talk about how they don't like the shows that kids watch nowadays. Even kids from today who weren't even born when the shows we grew up with aired, seem to prefer the shows we grew up with rather than the shows they have today. Basically, it seems like since the dawn of the 21st Century, the kids shows on TV, haven't been good anymore. However, there are a couple of exceptions and Drake & Josh is definitely an exception. This TV show aired for 3 years on Nickelodeon, and can still be watched on Teen Nick. It aired during the years 2004-2007, and I can't believe how long ago those years were. While they don't make anymore episodes, it is still nice to catch reruns. Watching reruns will take you back to when this TV show aired on TV, and you'll get some good laughs, as this show is hilarious. I've seen every episode, and laughed at like every episode. Sometimes, I even laughed really hard, as it's definitely a very funny show. They keep a laugh track on the TV show, which can help you laugh at scenes. The show talks about the lives of two step brothers, Drake and Josh. Josh's Dad married, Drake's Mom and those two have to learn to live with each other. They show they care about each other, but it will take a whole episode of their bickers before we see it. Drake and Josh have all these funny things happen in their lives. They also are frequently pranked by their annoying little sister, Megan played by Miranda Cosgrove. We have Drake, who is a cool and handsome guy. He plays the guitar, and he gets all the girls. The girls always seem to go after Drake. Drake has the lucky things happen in his life. However, Drake is a slacker, he is irresponsible, and he is also the more rebellious type, but they keep this kid appropriate as Drake doesn't swear and they don't show him do more than kissing. He doesn't talk about sex, drugs, or alcohol. So, while he frequently gets in trouble for doing things, he doesn't do the things parents would worry more about their adolescents doing. We have Josh, and the bad luck seems to fall on Josh. Josh is the smart one, yet he is still a total weirdo. Everything seems like it has to be perfect for Josh, Josh is quick to show a crazy reaction. We have a few other minor characters from the show that frequently make an appearance, including Josh's girlfriend Mindy. This TV show is also good, as again it's funny. It's cool the part Drake plays in it, like the song we hear at the beginning of the show, "Found A Way" is actually a cool song sung by Drake, as Drake is talented in singing and the guitar. If you're up for a good TV show on Nickelodeon, this is definitely one to watch. I found the show on TV, before I even heard about it, and can't help but notice how cool of a show it is. It's a TV show that leaves me feeling good, and gives me a good laugh. Too bad it wasn't on TV longer, one reason I thought I heard it ended is because of Miranda Cosgrove moving to ICarly. I believe most of us prefer Drake and Josh over Icarly. Oh well, this show did really well. So did the two movies they made for this show. I give Drake and Josh a 10/10.

It's not the worst show on Nickelodeon. That dubious honor goes to "Zoey 101" and "Naked Brothers Band". But this sitcom is still lacking quality in almost every aspect. The two stars (Parker and Nichols) are both graduates of the obnoxious sketch series "The Amanda Show" where they were lead to believe that in order to be funny all you have to do is over-act rather than master real comedic timing (something both boys are seriously lacking). The two leads are constantly out-shined by their supporting cast including Miranda Cosgrove, as their little sister, and Jerry Trainor, as a recurring character who works with Josh. Not surprisingly, both Miranda and Jerry would later star together in "iCarly" which is only slightly better than this show. In terms of writing, this show is completely unoriginal. A common trait amongst all of Dan Schneider's Nickelodeon shows. This man is a true hack. Literally all of his shows are nothing more than stolen "I Love Lucy" scripts reworked for kids. I'm not even trying to be mean. All of these shows regularly feature thinly disguised "Lucy" plots only without the expert staging and set-ups. And very rarely do the writers ever add their own unique spin. It's all dreadfully predictable. Sure, a lot of sitcoms recycle old stories but at least most of them can be forgiven thanks to witty dialogue and good casting. "Drake & Josh" is instead hampered down by crummy dialogue that thinks it's funnier than it actually is. Combine that with smug actors who think they're funnier than they actually are and you've got a bad show. Just to give you an idea of how bad the writing is on this show, I'll describe one episode I watched recently while babysitting (which is the only reason I'm even familiar with this series). The boys get in trouble because Josh is addicted to video games while Drake is addicted to junk food. In one scene Josh nags Drake for being so unhealthy. For those not familiar with the show, Josh is the morbidly obese one (at least when this episode was made) and Drake is the skinny, lanky one. So, yeah, they actually wrote an episode where the big fat kid scolds the skinny guy for eating too much junk. Seriously, they did that. Eventually the boys make a bet on which one of them can go longer without giving into their addiction. Sound familiar? Remember when Lucy bet Ricky that she can go longer without buying a new hat than he can without losing his temper? Same...exact...plot. So if you've never watched television before in your life, you might be amused by this pale imitation of a sitcom. Which is why it's so popular with children. They've haven't seen anything better yet. Others will most likely find the show aggravating.
