Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

I don't know why, but this might be my favorite comedy. The awkwardness of the characters, the need to belong, the complete unconcern about being " the other - this is the best written and acted comedy series I can think of.The first episode was...not enthralling; will this be another "make fun of the nerds" show? By the second, I was intrigued - hooked by the third. By the end of the third series, I was desperate for more.

This show is the epitome of British humour. Sarcastic, tongue in cheek, simplistic and witty. Pure entertainment from start to end. Detectorists is up there with Black Books for me... and just like Black Books, it left me in a schizophrenic state of wishing there was more to watch and respectfully pleased with the decision to end without disappointment.

Detectorists really is one of the greats, it deserves to be up there in the canon of British comedy. It's uniquely understated, quintessentially British without being at all jingoistic, and most importantly: it is laugh out loud hilarious. I can't recommend highly enough, I love it.

The problem with shows like this is they take them off the air. No nudity, no violence, no laugh track. A person has to actually just sit and enjoy it. You smile, you laugh, you cry. You are not hit over the head by moronic jokes. The acting is superb. Not overacted but perfectly done. Quiet, subtle, honest. Please, someone out there take pity on the mature audience. Not everyone likes the 3 Stooges. Thank you for giving us this show. Don't take it away.
