what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

I've always got a suggestion for this show on NetFlix and seen the listings on PBS. So I started binge watching Season 1. The main Character DI Poole is sort like Adrian Monk, which I'm a fan of, that's probably why it suggested this show to me. Crime procedural with some comedy. Poole's quirkiness makes him eccentric but not like Monk's OCD. I don't want to give out spoilers, but the Season 1-2 lead character gets replaced with a new Lead in Season 3, but I have not gotten there yet. One other thing, being like Monk, the shows seems to have one more thing in common, that is they both gather all the suspects in the end to reveal the murderer. Also there seems to be a lot of death for a small island. TBC...

I really wanted to like this show because I watch British TV and movies much more than I do anything that is written and produced in America. However, this show is so blatantly racist, sexist, and stuck in a colonial system that I just can not bare to watch. Most episodes would be so much better if the bumbling idiot savant DI (played by both Miller and Marshall) was not so condescending and so ill fit for the job. This would normally be the funny and interesting part of the show but I really do not like the character. The underlings, I mean the other officers included the old fart commissioner (people of color), are never able to take a comprehensive look at the evidence and figure out anything while they run around are calling him sir and boss all the damn time. Instead, it is this slovenly ill prepared socially awkward character played by Kris Marshall always so brilliant putting the pieces together while every one stands by in awe (REALLY!) This is the case even though he fails to get anything else in his life correct. I could even deal with the fact that DC Cassell and Bordey are never dressed professional and always have on revealing clothing if I did not feel like they were always kowtowing to this ridiculous white dude that could not cut it in England.
I'm just saying!

If we could give this a -10, it would be appropriate. We were thoroughly entertained by the first two seasons; the characters were delightful from the beginning, the chemistry was spot on and the 'who-done-its' always kept us guessing. However, the writers destroyed everything good about this series when they killed off DI Richard Poole - they should be fired! What on earth were they thinking! We will not be watching any more episodes and we will be dissuading anyone from getting hooked on this show.

At first it was a good 'fish-out-of-water' series as DI Richard Poole (Ben Miller) adjusted to life in the tropics. Kris Marshall's DI Humphrey Goodman was a bumbling cartoon figure, who ended up in a 'Love Actually' type of plot and went back home. Now we have an actor who I do not know at all, who can not act. He adds nothing to the show. This show lives and dies by the likeability of the DI and it is not feeling well at all.
