Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .

Don't Believe the Hype

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Zen
Like other reviews have mentioned; the show is full of cliches, acting (or over-acting) is an issue, and the biggest problem is that the characters violate every rule on regular basis and act tough and self-righteous about it - it has become tiresome. The episode last night I thought would see the end on Hank Voight but no, he managed to get away with it. By the way, he is the one and only person responsible for Al's death. No one in the squad challenged him on that. Antonio picked a fight in the previous episode but that's it. Voight is 90% good but 10% a very dangerous man. Even as a character if he resembles the slightest bit of reality he is what is wrong with cops in the US. The writers don't even show a hint of judgment, in fact they have been increasingly justifying and enforcing his obnoxious behavior (covered up to be vigilante justice) - It is ok to a certain degree but they are over doing it, very wrong and dangerous.

This show has very good episodic stories and a well developed but not overly intrusive set of back stories. The main character (Hank) as well as his "number 2" are quite flawed, yet appealing. None of the recurrent characters is without foibles that vary from funny to tragic. The acting has a genuine feel to it, and perhaps the most remarkable characteristic of the show is the intensity of the characters on display. The show has a sense of urgency throughout, even when the crimes being investigated may not. The cross-over episodes with Chicago Fire and Chicago Med are very well done.Overall an entertaining watch.

Good show sometimes best way to watch it record it skip past the modeling or boring spots. Halstead should be wearing a leather jacket not some Windjammer.

Just another cheap copy of The Shield and Southland. The only difference is that Hank Voight is thinner than Vic Mackey and he mumbling a lot more. Leatherjacket? Stolen! Storyline? Stolen! One example? The scene where a women steal a bread from a shop owner for a lousy dollar. Exact the same thing i saw 2 years before at Southland, only thing they changed? At Southland officer John Cooper paid a women a dollar so she can buy a doll at a toy store. The rest of the cast? Filled with Wannebee-Beautysmodels like Sophia Bush or Jon Seda which not even act good neither realistic. Best scenes for me are those with the patrolmen- and women like Marina Squerciati, Amy Morton and Laroyce Hawkins. Cmon Producers use your'e own ideas please!!!
