Chances was an Australian evening soap opera, produced from 1991 to 1992. It told the story of the average middle-class Taylor family whose lives are transformed by winning $3 million in the lottery. The series was broadcast by the Nine Network, initially as two one-hour episodes each week. Principal cast members included John Sheerin and Brenda Addie as Dan and Barbara Taylor, Jeremy Sims as their mischievous son Alex, Deborah Kennedy as Dan's sister Connie Reynolds, Tim Robertson as Dan's brother Jack, Anne Grigg as his wife Sarah, and Michael Caton as neighbourhood friend Bill Anderson. Originally, creator Lynn Bayonas pitched the show as a family-oriented drama; however to help ensure the program's success, Channel Nine asked for nude scenes and risqué elements to also be included in the series. Initial publicity for the show focused on the sex angle, and it was for this that Chances was chiefly known.

Chances Audience Reviews

Micransix Crappy film
Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Donald Seymour This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
phurge Yes it had lots of T&A, and unbelievable plot lines - but thats what made it so Good! Not to be taken seriously, the main attraction was to see how far out the plot lines would become (and the T&A of course). It was also notable for the high standard of its cast that it managed to attract. The cast included:Michael Caton (all round Aussie legend), Cathy Godbold (hottie), Jeremy Sims (now a little more serious), Abigail (legend), Lawrence Mah (serial soap star) and many others.I also have to say, at the time as an undergrad, it was refreshing to see some TV where the writers were smoking more than I was! Chances, we miss you.So if you pick up the DVD, take it straight to the pool room.
nobita I remember I was in High School when this classic piece of Australian TV graced our screens. Promoted to be a sophisticated, stunning shift in the direction of Australian programming, it soon began to smell like a forgotten cooked chicken in the boot (trunk) of the family car. The show caused a lot of controversy when first aired simply because of the fact that it contained a lot of tits and bum. When the public no longer cared about that, they swiftly moved on to eradicating great swathes of cast members in original and enjoyable death scenes. Finally the show limped into severely bizarre storylines and plots involving god-knows-what (no-one actually remembers, we were no longer watching) that produced a thoroughly embarassing television show for the actors and public alike. May it rest in peace.
