carriedragicevic I watched Boston Legal when it first aired more than 10 years ago and loved it. I recently decided to binge watch it again. I must say, I can't think of a show that holds up better. Denny Crane and Alan Shore have the sweetest relationship on television, romantic or not. They are a testament to the power of love and friendship and its ability to overcome idealogical differences that so often tear us apart. James Spader and William Shatner were absolute perfection in their roles. Speaking of casting - there was quite a bit of turnover throughout the series, and that was at times a bit jarring. You would become invested in characters only to have the disappear without a trace. But I find it fogivable because 1) the core cast (namely Spader, Shatner, and Candice Bergen) were phenomenal and consistent and 2) the cast really did improve over time with the final two seasons being some of the best. John Larroquette and Christian Clemensom were particularly excellent additions! (I do with Gary Anthony Williams had been around for the final season (with perhaps some more appearances by alter-ego Clarice!) but I can't complain.) To call out all of the wonderful recurring characters would be too cumbersome, but know that there are many and they are wonderful!The occasional breaking of the fourth wall was always a delightful surprise and contributed to the show's very unique combination of drama, issue-tackling, and laugh-out-loud comedy. The finale - I hate to see my favorite shows end, particularly because they are almost always unsatisfactory conclusions. BL is a definite exception! Without giving anything away, very little could've been done to make it a happier ending for beloved characters. I wish this show had gotten more love from the network when it aired; and I wish one of the streaming services would pick it up. More people need to see this wonderful show.

redwhiteandblue1776 I recorded the series and it started out ok. But by season two it became clear that the main (some could argue the only) reason for the program being aired was to promote left wing, liberal causes. I am kind of middle of the road political guy but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the producers and writers of Boston Legal politically are way out in left field. Each episode pushing a different liberal belief. All characters who show any conservative leanings, any Republican or government official was shown to be slow minded, idiots or at least pretty whacky. (ie Denny Crain) The Democrats and liberals are portrayed as smart, clever and very capable. And of course of the court cases handled by the left leaning lawyers (who always win) give them the opportunity to preach the lefts political point of view.If it weren't for the quirky charters, the show would be pretty boring listening to pure talking points from the Democratic Party. After all, both side present their cases in court and then the attorney from Crain, Poole and Schmit gets up and give a brilliant closing argument and wins. Aside from that, the men in the law firm seem to be quite successful in their sexual exploits with beautiful young women. So it's a mystery why they all want to bed Sherley Schmit played by Candice Bergen. Come on! She may have been very attractive in her earlier years, but Boston Legal wasn't filmed during her earlier years. When this show was made she was 20 years older than the other women on the show who run around the law office flaunting their stuff.The law firm is portrayed as being very successful and taking in vast amounts of money. Yet most of the clients that are represented have little or no money. I found that odd.Apparently there is no HR department at this firm to handle sexual harassment complaints. Yikes! Of course most of the harassed women give a mild mention of it then end up having sex with the guy anyway. It all makes for fun and games, but certainly appears to be a bit over-the-top when it comes to office romances and sexual funny business. It appears the sexual escapades are exploited to attract viewers, and then they are clobbered with the left wing's political hammer.

rumzt208 I'm one of those people who isn't very fond of the judicial system and especially lawyers however Boston Legal is more about humanity than anything else. Every second of every episode is filled either with tactful humor or profound worldly idealism that leave you emotionally stirred. It made me think about life unlike any other show in this respect. The relationships between the characters is, in itself, enough reason to watch. Alan Shore (James Spader) is the single most fathomless character I have had the pleasure of encountering on screen. David E. Kelley's creation doesn't fail to entertain (and somehow enlighten) even for a moment.

roroh83 Well, What can I say about Boston Legal. Maybe I am addicted to this great series: Boston legal. Actually, to be a lawyer is the best and most interesting job to do, and to watch Boston legal, is the funniest activity to make and the greatest time to spend. Really, I can assume that it is the best series ever, really, hope they will be a new born season :) And I guess Alan shore is the best actor and star in the series, and even one of the greatest actors whom have been playing the lawyer role. As for the different seasons, I think the first season was great, of course am missing some actors like Monica potter , Rhona Mithra and Julie Bowen, and even Rene Auberjonois, but the new actors and actresses are not bad, I just like the new associates: Tara summers and Saffron Burrows. Anyway, It is a " chef d'oeuvre". Please try to reinvent a legal series like this one. thank you.
