anetkam You would think that seeing Kelsey Grammar in this role (after adoring him for over 10 years as Frasier) would be difficult to stomach. But it's not. And it is not, because Kelsey plays the role of his life here. He is brilliant and 100% believable. There is no Frasier in sight, there is Boss, a guy you hate, and yet, can't help feeling sorry for. It is not easy watching, no, it's not. Some scenes will haunt me in my dreams for many nights to come, but the show is absolutely fantastic, and I cannot believe it only lasted 2 seasons. Whoever decided to end it, must be crazy! I was heartbroken to learn that it was over so soon... (IMDb auto-correct keeps changing Kelsey's last name, I am powerless - apologies to the Boss!)

fritz-114 How many loose ends can a writer leave before ANY viewer decides that the writer is in fact awful? How many lines can an actor deliver before the viewer gags? Well...Starz pulled the plug on this crap-can of waste before it ever had the chance to insult any more viewers. Thank you goes to Starz for letting Kelsey Gramar that his acting is SO terrible that no one can believe what they are watching. How many times do we have to hear "Suffice it to say.." How trite, how moronic and how unbelievable the writing is. BLAH! If what you are looking for is some super series like breaking bad or such this is not it. If you want action this is not it. If on the other hand you enjoy story lines that go nowhere, characters that go in and out of character from episode to episode than "Boss" may be just the answer your looking for.

neppie I read in the autobiography of a successful writer that he believed his earliest, unknown novels had technically been his best. Only after he learned to create characters with redeeming values did he become popular. After a few episodes of Kesley Grammar's "Boss" suspected this might be why I couldn't (at first) be more enthusiastic about a series brilliant in every other way. I did find empathy with a couple of the characters. Hannah Ware (Emma) was intriguing as Kesley Grammar's (Mayor Kane's) problem daughter, serving in contrition at a church and free clinic. Troy Garity is equally engaging as a dedicated, ethical journalist determined to uncover a scandal. However before the end of the season was in a "love to hate" relationship with Kane that reminded me of loathing for J.R. Ewing in the age of "Dallas". Season two felt so different I questioned whether the writers were deliberately catering to our better natures. Kane began to have hallucinations that taunted his conscious like ghosts haunting Scrooge. It seemed they were going to take the easy way out with a happy ending for all. I no longer wanted likable characters. Much to my relief and chagrin, my wonderful contempt for Kane was returning as the season ended.The series caused me to research the workings of Chicago's city council, which though I believe exaggerated are accurately depicted. Also the disease of Lewd Body Dementia, which causes Mayor Kane's hallucinations (this is revealed in episode one -- not a spoiler). LBD is more common than I knew and sufferers were grateful for the attention it received because of the show.

Chris-510-631529 Is it possible that there is cross reference to Obama's political upcoming? The ward bosses of the ghetto, the lateral interaction towards city hall. Is this how Obama came up? Is there an actual ward in Chicago that existed? Does anyone know his political rise in detail and can cross reference? Is Kane only a symbolic figure of American corruption? Any one care to comment? The direct Chicago reference and that GVS is producing it makes me wonder if this is all Just a metaphor for something a little bigger. A more than meets the eye subplot. Lets discuss via a different angle. Looking forward. Ps I loved both seasons and hope there will be a third.
