A waste of 90 minutes of my life

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

I'm enjoying this. A tough and sassie, blonde, female vampire hunter teams up with a centuries old, good vampire who likes to wear dark clothes, places great importance on hair care and has a penchant for drawing. After years of wandering in Europe he finds his way to North America and, together with the sassie blonde, chastely fights a different demon every week. Oh, and the sassie blonde's wackily dressed assistant is interested in witchcraft. Familiar? Can't quite put my finger on it.Not to be confused with the superbly dated Forever Knight which has another centuries old, good, vampire detective; also keen on the black leather and the hair products. And keeps blood in his fridge.

I don't watch lifetime much. I like science fiction, mysteries and most importantly well written and fast moving plots. While that can be some slow parts at times in these stories it is more from the directing than the writing. Overall this is a well done science fiction series. It is not as good as the SciFi series Stargate or Stargate Atlantis but in my book it is better than the HBO series True Blood. I can't believe it but I do like this Lifetime program. The plots are always well conceived science fiction and character development / interaction between the three main characters is excellent. Lifetime isn't listed as a favorite channel on the remote but Blood Ties is a program I do have Tivo'd for a season pass.

Despite the fact that I often watch Lifetime late in the evenings, and thus saw Blood Ties advertised even before it began, I didn't start watching the series initially. It was some time later that I stumbled across the streaming video of all the episodes on Lifetime's website. All I can say is...I regret all the time I missed out! This is a fantastic show with an imaginative plot that serves as an inspired twist on the ever-increasingly tired "cop drama." Unlike many of the cookie-cutter crime shows available to viewers, "Blood Ties" offers really creative story lines with the added bite of witty one-liners and a cast that sparks with chemistry.I was truly upset to learn that Lifetime has chosen not to renew this great show. Though I was once an avid Lifetime fan, I feel now that the network is moving in a direction that will make it as predictable and reality-TV-saturated as most other cable channels. "Blood Ties" was a rare departure from spoon-fed vapidity, and a real triumph of the creative spirit.Though no new episodes appear to be forthcoming (at least not on Lifetime) you should really check out the episodes available online. A spitfire P.I., a compelling vampire, and an increasingly tight love triangle...what more could we ask for?
