Ballers Audience Reviews

Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
ioandiankov A series that made me laugh hard, feel sad and even got me to understand some things happening in American Football's backstage(i hate that sport, so it's kind of amazing they pulled it over, but it's HBO...). A bunch of partygoers meeting the harsh reality of sports business. I won't say more than that.I highly recommend it, if you want 20/35 minute episodes of a high quality show with the awesome Dwayne Johnson and his partner Rob Corddry that's a must! Loved it!
Leftbanker To begin with I must confess that I absolutely hate American football and have for since I stopped playing the game back in high school. I won't go into that but I have to say that Ballers is loads of fun to watch. The Rock is a thoroughly competent actor and charming along with the rest of the cast. I especially love Omar Benson Miller and his role as the lovable giant. His wife ain't too bad either. My only complaint is that it moves along slowly and there needs to be more substantive movement in the story. Thus far (S02E07) there hasn't been a lot going on and the major players are still on thin ice.Other than that I have to say that I like how the story line allows for the introduction of new and fn characters at every step along the way. The white redneck kid has been a fun addition to compliment the stories of the other players involved. The infinite possibility for story and character development really bodes well for the creators.
gregkut Ballers is a view into the fantasy land of being an NFL player, but not everything is champagne and caviar in the mean and nasty pro sports landscape. The show is flat for me because a) the Rock is not believable as a financial adviser. Did he go into this line of work just because his name is Spencer Strasmore, and it sounds like a 200 year old blue blood investment bank? b) the guys on this show, no matter if they throw in some adversity, always get what they want in the end. Like Entourage.. Oh, a magic phone call came in from Dallas, they want to offer you asking price plus $10M. all is fine in the world again! oh you had unprotected sex with that random club girl? your STD test came back negative! no worries! c.) the actors don't seem to care that much. Rob Cordroy is OK, the boss is half decent, but the Jewish/Italian agent looks at the camera half the time, the Rock is playing himself yet again, and the famous guys they get on the show are always brutal.
Zabaski I've seen the previews for this show and I was FAR from convinced. I watched the show (mostly because I have HBO free for a year) and I was pleasantly surprised. Comedy is a far stretch, the show is a drama with some funny moments. With that being said it is a good show and the Rock and his supporting cast are great. Let's be honest movie channels do it big and they aren't afraid to be a little edgy so if you have HBO give it a shot. Many movies and shows have failed in the advertisement department this year, just god awful. I base most of my TV and movie watching on previews and occasionally word of mouth as well as user reviews on IMDb. What else can I base my opinion on? Critics? No thanks. A preview is like a good old fashion sales pitch and in my opinion "Ballers" failed horribly. The show itself was entertaining and insightful, had I not had HBO for free I would have never watched and certainly never paid for it.
