This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

I like this show. A lot. It has good story lines with likeable characters. True, the writers have taken a LOT of 'artistic license' in weaving mythological characters into the story, but if you take it all with a grain of salt, it's still very entertaining. For me, the most bemusing aspect of this show is that it's main character, Jason, is mysteriously transported from the 21st century to ancient Atlantis, but appears to have forgotten everything about the 21st century! Even his initial Yorkshire accent disappears! I'm surprised he never mentions or uses any 21st century knowledge to solve or overcome any challenges. After episode 1, there's never a hint or mention of the fact he's even from the 21st century. Still, it doesn't detract from the enjoyment. Good performances from all, but especially from Sarah Parish as the deliciously evil and manipulative Pasiphae.

I've only recently found this series, so I have watched all episodes and I have mixed feelings about it. Overall I was a bit disapointed that they rushed some of the episodes. They put a lot of events in each episode, don't explore some characters and plotlines, and sometimes, in between episodes, I got the idea that they've skipped time and events. Everything happened too fast... The fact that they've twisted a bit the mithology doesn't bother me at all (except for the fact that Jason SHOULDN'T have stayed with Ariadne!). It's just mithology, and if other reviewers are so bothered about it, they should just tune in to a documentaries channel! Overall I think that it had potential, but the final episodes were very disappointing.

I have just recently finished watching Atlantis and really enjoyed it. While Season 1 wasn't amazing, Season 2 was absolutely incredible!I recently became aware of the show and started watching it because I'm a big fan of fantasy shows (which there are not nearly enough of on TV), and because I was interested to see what they would do with the legend of Atlantis after doing pretty well with Merlin. Season 1, as mentioned in other reviews, is a little slow, cheesy/cringe worthy at times, and the writing/acting could be improved in parts. It was still enjoyable to watch to escape reality for a bit, and I felt it had a lot of potential - but it became a show I watched more when I wanted that TV escape for 40min without being addicted and feeling like I needed to watch more. Knowing it had been canceled before starting to watch it, at that stage, I though I understood why (particularly when compared to season 1 of Merlin - its predecessor). But Season 2 completely changed that! I think I watched season two in 3 days, I got so hooked on the story line and characters. At the end of season 1, I could see the start of where the show could go, and the show's directors/producers/writers did a fantastic job at building on it. Atlantis became an actual fantasy drama in season 2 - the plot was substantially better, as was the acting and writing, the characters all gained a lot more depth, and the themes the show explored were much more interesting. Overall it became very addicting, and I'm devastated that it was canceled, before the show could continue to grow in season 3 (or even that they couldn't film just a few more episodes to tie up some of the story lines they had done such a fantastic job at building!)For anyone considering watching this, if you are struggling with the first season, don't give up on it! If needed, skip to the last two episodes of season 1 and start from there. If you are looking for a solid and addicting fantasy drama, season 2 of Atlantis is well and truly worth watching!

I hadn't heard anything or didn't know anything about this show before I watched it but kept seeing it pop up so I read a brief description before deciding to give it a go.It's more of a prequel to what we generally know about Greek mythology; for example Hercules an alcoholic, gambler and generally shies away from confrontations. We also get introduced to people like Medusa but before the whole turning people into stone and the snake hair thing. It has a good story, a good cast with the most notable being Mark Addy (Game of Thrones and A Knight's Tale) and Juliet Stevenson (Bend It Like Beckham) and some pretty good special effects. It's worth a watch but I couldn't see myself watching Series 1 again but will definitely be tuning in to watch Series 2.
