Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

Blistering performances.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Pickers is fake. Sure, they appear at various places but that's about the "reality" of it.
The show is "scripted". Look at the massive list of "directors". "Reality" can't be "directed".
Anyway, I've been, for the last year or so, been trying to get ahold of Mike Wolfe through their email. He doesn't seem to exist! I get responses to my inquiries by some unnamed person telling me that they will pass on my message to Mike. Now, my messages have been: "I'd like to speak with Mike Wolfe, please" and am ignored. He can't be that busy! The show isn't filmed every week. They film a year or a season's episodes in 2 or 3 months, leaving the rest of the time open.
Now, since they're supposedly a "business" and "sell stuff", why wouldn't they respond to a potential customer? I've asked multiple times to purchase the BSA sign seen in the shop finally to be told: "It's not for sale". Well, take it down, then!
I own a rare motorcycle that's been featured in 3 magazines including Hemming's Motor News and Motorcycle Classics Magazine and am sure if this "Mike Wolfe" character truly existed, he'd surely be interested in checking out my bike. I get nothing but: "Leave a message to Mike. We'll be sure he gets it." Well, my message is "I want to speak with MIKE!" Surely they have computer access!
Yes, I still watch the show but now look at Mike Wolfe with contempt. To ignore repeated correspondence from not only a viewer but a potential customer, well, that's egotistical and self-centered.
By the way, The History Channel and it's sponsors all pay the "Pickers" purchasing costs because how can a business that doesn't exist have any money? I mean, how much money can be made driving half way across the country to buy a half dozen items at 30% less than you might sell them for?
Plus, who pays the fuel and crew for the helicopter and crew's vehicle that follows them around? As a former member of the United Sates Army's 14th Aviation (rotary wing) Battalion, I can certainly tell you it isn't cheap to fly a helicopter!
Where's the profit..?
Think about it...

Like so many other shows this one began simple with the two guys digging for "rusty gold". Then as time past they learned that lots of old men (and women) were more interested in Danielles cup size rather than the subject of the show. The viewers who made this show famous aren't watching for scripted jokes or how much skin the hired help can show. We want to see the pick....NOTHING ELSE. If I wanted a burlesque show then that's what I would watch. If people want to see Danielle and Mikes brother go on a date then maybe "History" channel should make that a separate show. Maybe they can hire Chumlee to hang out with them and compare who is the worse actor. Don't even get me started on Pawn Stars (which was also ONCE an interesting show)I'm VERY close to stop watching Pickers all together. Sorry Mike, You're a great guy but you're letting the show go in all the wrong directions.

I think this show serves a real purpose and does a great job of providing a great view of what this kind of life is all about... Who are we to judge if it is completely "genuine" or not? We see them every week going out there and finding unique items to try and make a profit off of... Some jerks like jokingkong this that it is fake and make themselves feel better by talking crap about the show and even worse about the looks of Danielle... I will say that Danielle is the kind of girl that I always liked. She is a Beautiful girl that has some great tattoos that has a great personality... Although I would watch the show if she wasn't on it she really does add a nice element to the show and adds something special to look at... Idiots can say all they want that it's fake or they are just trying to get things in the cheap... But business is all about profit so I do not blame them for any deal they make because web you're in the middle of nowhere you try to get the best price you can... And for the sellers I don't ever ever ever feel bad for them because if they wanted to make full Retail on their items they would pull it out of the mud and piles of crap they have built up and go find a buyer themselves... These two dig through all of the insane built up piles of junk and find things that Anericans may want to display and decorate there house... I say keep it up Mike and Frank, you're doing great and to Danielle... You are a Beautiful person and I wish you the best... And wish I could hang out with you and listen to some old school punk and hardcore with you :-) American Pickers is one of the best shows on TV... Everything in TV land is somewhat scripted... All I know is this show is entertaining and educational and I Love It... Keep it up guys...

I love the premise of the show. It is staged though, there are many parts that clearly are setups. The cut aways where they give some detail about the year and date some obscure company put out a toy car etc. is not reality. Most people only know about one area of their collecting hobby in that kind of detail. Other things include the prices they say something is worth, at times they are spot on, others they are way too high or way too low. I would love to see Danny strip as she is a pole dancer. The guys make their money on the show not bumming around the country picking up old bike parts. Its still a good show as long as people know that is not real, and they can not just get a van and start knocking on doors and make a living. In this economy its hard and prices are actually falling for the first time in many years.
