ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

sapphire I couldn't see or here anything in this film. The lighting was so bad it was like the studio must of spent the budget on other prodjects, the horid camera work when Heatcliff covers his eyes, the wind that blocked out all sound probably because the sound crew realised the unintellgible filth coming out of the actors mouth was not worth hearing and the child nudity the actor of young Heathcliff was barley 14 at filming I hope this edition fades from public memory as the infinitely better 1978 version did, I gave up ten minutes before the end after exepting this was not Emily Brontë's masterpiece that I know and love.

grantss Dull and confusing version of the Emily Bronte classic, despite attempting to make it more edgy. Starts quite slowly, and vaguely, hits its stride in the middle, and falls apart at the end. The edginess is about the only positive, but it does feel like a hard slog to get through.Kaya Scodelario is OK as (the older) Cathy but James Howson is unconvincing as (older) Heathcliff and contributes greatly to the dullness of the movie. And, hey, where was the Kate Bush soundtrack? That was what I was looking forward to most...

molly-cutpurse One, I've never read the book, so I could not follow it. When one is watching a film, one ought not to guess. I need to be told the story. Two, it was too dark for me. As in, there was not enough illumination. Three, use a tripod! At the very least, use a steady cam. Four, watching out of focus images does nothing for me. Five, close ups of insects and other unimportant stuff does not drive the story forward. And what's with the 4:3 aspect ratio?!! All else is forgiven. Nice countryside. Good accents. I closed my eyes at the animal slaughter because I am squeamish.. Unnecessary. Now I shall read the book. And maybe look at other versions.

scoochie9 This is the first adaptation I've yet seen which actually captures the true feeling of the novel. I haven't seen all of the movies, so I may be wrong, but everything I've seen so far has portrayed Catherine and Heathcliff as completely sympathetic characters, and I'm just not OK with that, considering there are so many Heathcliff groupies out there.While I was reading the book several years ago, the involuntary expression on my face was the same as the one on Colin Farrel's face in "In Bruges" when he's viewing the medieval paintings depicting torture scenes: an expression of unprepared revulsion.This film is brilliant in a million ways, particularly its direction and cinematography, but it's especially brilliant in that it shows in an extremely visceral way (beware of animal cruelty images!) how very messed up these people in the story are.Well done!
