Cebalord Very best movie i ever watch

Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Cristi_Ciopron The appeal of Shyamalan comes from understated emotions, from understatements generally; I had read about him long before I have seen any of his movies. I understood nothing from his 1st Willis movie—the reversal included. Later, reading criticism, I did not understand what was it that I had missed in that movie. I enjoyed the Gibson movie more than the two Willis outings. But there he jettisoned all understatement. Then, I saw an earlier movie of Shyamalan—that with the Pope and the kid, etc., Shyamalan's hazy recollections of his Catholic schooling. That was 7 ½ yrs. ago; since then, I stopped following his career. But from what I remember of his movies, almost without fondness, it seems as if the subduing, the understatements, the … are what gives him any charm at all.

trixie-k-88 Wide Awake is a little known movie with a lot of heart. It's a sweet, thoughtful film about a young boy's journey with his faith.Joshua A. Biel (Joseph Cross) is a ten year old boy who is starting the 5th grade. Joshua feels trapped by his strict Catholic boys' school and spends most of his time with his mischief making friend Dave. But Josh is very subdued this year, due to the recent death of his grandfather (Robert Loggia) whom he was very close with. His grief and immersion in the Catholic faith give Joshua a fantastic idea: Find God. Joshua then spends his entire school year learning about religions and spiritual practices. His parents (Dana Delany & Denis Leary) and teacher Sister Terry (Rosie O'Donnell) become worried about him, but this spiritual journey not only helps him cope with Grandpa's death, but become a young man.Wide Awake is a unique little movie with a lot of emotion and curiosity. Never have I seen a movie that depicts a child's spiritual development. Joshua narrates the film with a child's point of view that is believable most of the time. Joseph Cross gives a very natural performance, and I feel he is a rather underrated actor; his talent was visible from this young age. This movie is easy to relate to for anyone who has lost a grandparent they were close with and/or struggled with their own faith.

Subbu Balakrishnan I just saw this movie yesterday - running on one of the Starz channels and didn't really know it was directed by MNS until the titles scrolled by. After that, there was surely no getting up from the couch! I think it is subtle and understated and somewhat contemplative. We all have similar questions, is there a God? If so, what does he/she look like? This was done without any special effects but with some basically simple yet tight screenplay. With excellent performances by almost everyone involved, including Rosie *gulp*.I particularly liked the performances by the kids. Just comparing the characters here to the first two Potter films, where IMHO the kids are relatively flat, you'll see some genuine emotions ranging from sadness to satisfaction to fear to uncertainty but most of all a sense of doubt in something almost everyone else seems to take for granted. Highly recommend watching it in a silent environment at home!

miklo-1 This little movie was a total delight. It had a great story line, was well acted and had a strong message while being poignant and humorous. The story of a 5th grader at an all boys Catholic school on a mission to find God is extremely funny, witty and compelling at the same time. This movie will make you run the gamut of emotions; you'll laugh, cry and at the end be satisfied that yes, there is indeed a God. Joshua's mission includes his discovery of life around him and for the first time he notices the wherefore's and why's of his family, friends and life in general. I found this movie to be very moving, so much so that I bought the DVD and am passing it around to friends and family. I give it my highest recommendation and know anyone who watches it won't be disappointed.
