Really Surprised!

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
Robert Joyner
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Many will see this and immediately dismiss this as propaganda and racist. I decided to check it out online and it gave me a different perspective of these two generals. It goes without saying that a person cannot judge history unless they lived through it and this documentary adds to the shades of grey(no pun intended)which we see in history. Both Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. Jackson are revered in the South and are quasi-saints. This documentary was made by those whose agenda is to dispel the simple idea that these men were bloodthirsty racists who simply wanted to keep enslaving others. Their reasons for joining the war were complex and came down to loyalty of family rather than allegiance to an abstract notion such as nationality. If you are interested deeply in the Civil War and want a different perspective to make your knowledge of the subject more robust, I suggest you watch this movie. If you are OK with your dialectical understanding of history and do not wish to muddy your knowledge with more grey areas, then this is not for you.
