asinyne I was not expecting a lot but I was pulled into this one. It was fascinating to watch C Thomas Howell and his directing is very good also. I haven't seen the first War of the Worlds with Howell but it didn't really give me any problems keeping up with the story. Is it just me or does Howell look like a skinny version of Mel Gibson now? But I digress.I thought the special effects were actually quite good for a low budget flick. The Martian ships were nicely portrayed although they weren't really all that scary. Chris Reid didn't add a lot to the picture although it was sort of cool seeing him again. He did have some funny expressions here and there. It would have probably been better to give Howell a sympathetic female hottie sidekick but hey..?I thought the story was very well written, fairly complex and original yet still easy to figure out. They definitely got the best out of their budget and it really is a good picture in my honest opinion. No, its not one of those two hundred million dollar computerized action flicks made for video game addicts but I liked it a lot. I like B movies from all eras. They just seem more organic and rough around the edges which makes them edgier and more willing to take chances. War of the Worlds 2, the Next Wave is one of the better ones from this era. Give it a shot, you might find yourself digging it too!

ewaf58 Well I wasn't sure what language this film was made in - so I put it through Babel Fish. Here is a typical line translated:'Blah blah blah..blah blah blah blah, blah de blah'.This actually makes more sense than the lines the actors were uttering.Effects wise I spotted left over props from Voyage to the bottom of the Sea (Think Giant squids and Fish Men)Best line (from a cigar smoking middle aged Man to a 9 year old) 'This World's become a place where boys like you and me have to grow up fast' (he looks at least 50 for God's sake)This film makes a previous SyFy effort (Savage planet - about alien killer bears) look like a masterpiece.Great going guys :)

Neb229 I mean, what?!? Who in their right mind would make such a film? Well the answer to that is C.Thomas Howell, and judging by the appearance of the man he ain't in his right mind. To star in and direct this tripe has clearly got to the lad and that might explain why his acting is almost the worst i have ever seen, but not quite....That title goes to the incomparable Kim Little. Good God! I just noticed that she was also in the first one playing a different character. Really, she was that good they thought, Yeh, get Kim for the sequel, she's the business!?! The film itself is unutterable bilge. Claw your eyes out to ease the pain type of thing. A script a rabid monkey clearly wrote, while on a bender. Fx from Doctor Who circa 1973. Don't worry though after half an hour your brain will have stopped all higher functions and you will be sitting there, drooling, not even knowing your own name.The only saving grace for me was that i caught this on TV and didn't shell out for this on Video like some. If my Video shop stocked this i would have to immediately leave the premises and pray to almighty Bhudda that it was obliterated by invading Aliens.The only reason they make this stuff is to try and trick some money from you.Write a letter to your Congressman, e-mail the Pope, phone the President! We have watched this so you don't have to. Save yourselves! Don't, Just Don't.

Si_m007 I did my best to watch it to the end, but failed.Worst element? The music - constantly in the background and totally inappropriate.Some of the 'fight' scenes - laughably poor - just film someone with a bit of camera shake and you're supposed to believe they're having an interstellar dog-fight...The sets... I kept on thinking they were going to fall down - extra supplies of sellotape anyone..?I don't know what the budget was for this film, but someone, somewhere, thought, hey this is good enough to be filmed, let's spend money and time and effort on it.. but then it gives hope to many aspiring film makers - if they're willing to back this, then surely my efforts have a chance..?
