What beer is to Germans, vodka is to Russians. The Russians consume around 60 liters of their national drink per capita per year - as cheap liquor, fine drink and home-distilled. But the high alcohol consumption has consequences: every year around 30,000 people in Russia die of alcohol poisoning.
