FirstWitch
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

I am a fan of disturbing, limits pushing movies. I can easily say i've watched many of the genre. So let me express my puzzlement about the comments on this movie.A movie must be really original and really deeply offensive for mankind to be called "disturbing". This movie may be psychologically disturbing in some level but has nothing original and deeply disturbing, if you think about it. Let's assume you will make a disturbing movie about a family, what would you write to disturb people? Incest sex, violence, shared crime? And of course the family members must be insane. Everyone can think of these. So, what is so original and disturbing about this movie? Sorry i can't see it.

Sex and violence is part of many families. The Orlando area, Florida, and the world have been captivated by it for three years now, and it hardly seems to be slowing down. But, one hardly knows what to expect when a film opens with a father having sex with his daughter, a prostitute. Soon, we see his son beating his mother, who is soon covered in welts. The son, himself is a target of violence, as bullies lob firecrackers and shoot roman candles into his bedroom.Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer) stretches boundaries in his films, and he certainly stretches them here. This is a highly dysfunctional family, even more so that the one we have been exposed to over the past few years here. Oh, did I mention, mom is a junkie and a prostitute also.Enter Visitor Q. He really doesn't do anything (except for mom, and later the daughter), but his mere presence changes the family. This film has some of the most disgusting scenes, made intentionally humorous by Miike. I won't describe them except to say they include pretty much everything from necrophilia, scatophilia, incest, rape to murder. The film is not for the faint of heart.Miike gives us a dazzling display of existential psychosis that will have us wondering about the mysteries of life.

I have just watched Miike Takashi' film Visitor Q, tonight, and i think that it is one of the most insane and disturbing films that i have ever seen, since Ichi The Killer another of Miike's films I almost found it too shocking to watch parts of it because of the film content. It is about a father, who is a former television reporter who is trying to make a documentary about violence and sex among youths in Japan. He has sex with his daughter who is a prostitute. There are some really disturbing sences in this film where his son beats up his mom, who is also a prostitute and also a heroin addict, and has to inject herself everyday."Q" a strange man comes and lives with the family but before he injures the father by hitting him in the head with a large stone, who he later becomes friends with. It is hard to explain how insane this film is. I would recommend this film only to people who are able to watch such disturbing images. But i thought that it was still a fantastic film. 7/10

I don't like all of Takashi Miike's movies but I found this one to be pretty enjoyable, despite it being quite an odd movie. But well, that's just Miike's thing, so be sure what to expect before watching this.Miike's handles all kind of different styles and themes and blends them together into this movie. It has lots of crazy characters, a bunch of violence and also a large amount of sex and nudity this time. This gets all combined with its absurd story, that strengthens all of its other themes, making this an odd as well as an unique viewing experience.Despite all of its heavy visual themes, with violence and sex, the movie is above all things also strangely entertaining to watch. Miike puts in his trademark comedy, that often makes this movie a light and pleasant watch, despite all of the heavy things that are happening on screen. He knows to put in the comical touches at the right place and at the right time.Of course it often is a hard movie to understand and follow because of all of its unusual themes and not so every-day common characters. It therefore also really isn't a movie for just everybody but if you are willing to give this movie a change with a clear mind and don't try to think too much about it all, until afterward when things start to seem to make more sense to you, changes are you might end up enjoy watching this movie. It's a movie that gets better as it progresses. At first it all is one big blur to you but later on things start to clear up more and you're able to understand some of it's themes and intentions of Miike. Everything starts to come together to you and suddenly what normally seems strange now seems perfectly normally, once you're drawn into Miike's world.A movie worth giving a go.7/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
