Vampire Clan Audience Reviews

Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Maleeha Vincent It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
riftwolf I got this in a 2 disc set with 'Hercules in New York', and it spent 4 years gathering dust before I finally sat and watched this. I should have guessed that the B movie to Hercules wouldn't be worth the time. To be fair, the production and acting aren't bad. It's on par with a made-for-TV movie, the main characters played their parts well and I understood what was going on, so I went into this movie open-minded. The main problem with the film is there's not enough story to last the length of a feature length movie. The murder and apprehension are covered in the first ten minutes, then the rest of it is boring retread as we go over a lot of unnecessary detail. We start off with Rod confessing to the murder, then going over the details of what led up to the murder in a police interview. A lot of other minor details are revealed over the course of the movie, but it's boring because we already know the ending. I repeatedly checked the run time during this to see how much longer this was going to go. I think the movie would have held my interest if it hadn't been told in flashback. It robs the movie of all immediacy and basically tells you 'Here's the story in ten minutes, now sit on your hands while we drag this out'. Obviously because this based on a true story you weren't going to get a twist ending, so it's just dull. I'm not giving this lower than a 3 because it was competently shot, well acted and well produced. But the nothing of a plot and tedious pacing drag this down from being an okay movie to a bad one for me.
PinkMascara I had spent months trying to find a copy of this film, only to find that it was no longer in production, only three years after it's release. Little did I know, that my friend had a copy that she purchased for 99p! (With an Arnold Schwarzenegger film...)The film tells the story of Rod Ferrell, a Gothic teenager convinced that he is a vampire. Although the film is not correct in details about the characters - e.g. Rod's long hair and Dana's short hair - it's not a complete let down. Admittedly, I have seen better films, but there have been worse at the same time. The gory aspects of the film, such as the corpses of Heather and Jeni's parents, were very good, as was some of the make-up. However, I think that casting could have been better, as I found some of the actors a bit tedious to watch for seventy minutes, despite how nice Drew Fuller looked wearing eyeliner.
hallandrewe I just rented this movie last night,And In my opinion Monkeys on typewriters could have done a MUCH better job. I am from Eustis Florida the place the murders took place, I actually knew Rod Ferrel very well before he moved to Kentucky. My first problem with the movie is, it wasn't even filmed anywhere near Eustis. Also Rod Ferrel was not a handsome short haired guy, he had long hair and in my opinion is very ugly, also he was like 10 times crazier than they made him seem on the movie, i mean the guy actually thought he was a Vampire how crazy is that. None of the actors in the movie where any good, and the story left out a lot of details, it seemed to me that they didn't do very good research about the crimes and rushed making it, I think the movie could have been much better and I'm VERY disappointed and would like my money back.
heroinchic i've always been highly interested in true crime, especially cases concerning vampires and teens who kill. so before i ever knew of a film being made about rod and his crew of merry followers i had read almost everything there was to read about the case. so it was natural that i wanted the film to be as accurate as possible. so it is no surprise that i was bitterly disappointed. for one thing ROD FERRELL HAD LONG HAIR. casting drew fuller with his trendy messy short hair style was just PLAIN WRONG. if i was the casting director and i saw drew fuller come in to audition i would have been like "GET OUUUUUUUUT, ROD HAD LONG HAIR YOU STUPID LITTLE MUPPET, UNLESS YOU CAN GROW YOUR HAIR ABOUT 16 INCHES LONGER IN THE NEXT 5 SECONDS YOU'VE GOT NO CHANCE!!!!!". it actually made me angry. no disrespect to the actors in the film, but you got it all horribly wrong. all i can say that was good about it was that the girls were extremely pretty looking all Gothic. so to conclude... 3/10. it is reasonably watchable if you are a goth freak of some kind and care little about the actual case. if you know about the case then you'll be pretty bitter as was i
