maxcarnage This movie is not terrible but not that good to me it is just a wacky 80's horror/comedy/fantasy some of the parts i liked was the creativity what other movie had magic trolls for villains and the setting of the movie I liked. The things i did not like at all were some plot holes and the ending. The ending was pointing to a sequel by the policemen finding a troll this ending was fine but what i didn't like was how they didn't follow it in trolls 2.The plot holes were a little confusing but not really that important. this movie was just a product of its time and will probably be A forgotten relic of the 80's that no one will remember. In conclusion this movie in not terrible and i would suggest for people to watch it if they like corny 80's movies and people who like 80's cinema.

Daniel I've seen the movie before, years ago when I was a teen. Watching it again, about twelve years later, I realized how immature I was to forgive some of the terrible acting and the ridiculous dialogue. I love B-rated horror flicks, but usually most of them don't take themselves seriously, and the ones that do try are just so bad that they're fun. The reason of my disappointment lies in it's potential. There were scenes that really creeped me out, and I loved that the Troll's smile was sweet and appeared like he came out some kid's film. Seeing something so child friendly hurting people to me is terrifying. When it smiled at it's victims I really felt dread. I don't want to spoil the movie, I do recommended it. It's terrible in a lot of areas. The scene where the dad's dancing was so embarrassing.

Adam Peters (18%) Best known now as the trash J.K Rowling watched while/before writing the Harry Potter books. And lets be perfectly clear, this is trash, but it's still somewhat entertaining trash nevertheless. The characters are some of the most annoying examples of badly drawn "people" in any film ever, and it's little wonder why the troll, who has the ability to shape-shift, can go around undetected when everyone is so over-the-top and grating. Although why the troll thought it best to be so overly aggressive while disguised as the little Potter girl is questionable. A key draw to this is the practical effects of the many creatures featured that do manage to raise a chuckle, and the song they "sing" is oddly fun. But besides the rubber monsters everything else is too sub par to bother with.

MisterWhiplash Troll, one of the Band productions (that being Charles Band, who would later make such epics as the Puppet Masters), is not a good movie by any stretch, and while I can't recommend it (certainly not as ironic-much as Troll 2, which is now legendary) I enjoyed it as a friends-laugh-and-cry movie anyway. Unlike the second more notorious film, this probably isn't trying to be a good movie and failing, it's just a middling horror-comedy with a host of odd celeb (or not-yet celeb) guest star choices from Sonny Bono to Julia Louis-Dreyfus.The main story has the Potter family (yes, Harry Potter Jr and Sr, it's probably a given JK Rowling saw the film many times as a youth) moving into an apartment building where the little girl of the family goes to the basement. Always not a good idea, and here she meets a troll her captures her and disguises himself as said troll to infiltrate the family and start to make the troll universe in the apartment. This part gets a little confusing (until June Lockheart comes in and explains everything like a storybook teller for kids), but once it comes to showing all the trolls and wizardry and green forest-sections - and that WTF song sung by characters that is oddly catching - you just lose yourself in it... or not.The make-up actually is one of the things that work best for me here; it's so cheesy and slapped together, and yet some of it looks like they put effort into it, and the main troll who transforms from girl to troll and girl again looks convincing, if limited in movement (a pretty useless sub-plot and one of the big frustrations of the movie by the way, why keep screwing around with this family when making the eco-system in the apartment is the goal?) But... it's still not *good*. The guest stars all are mostly "oh just give me my check already" save for Julia Louis-Dreyfuss who does give it her all as multiple elvish-women. But Troll does work if you just watch it with a silly-open mind and don't take a shred of it seriously.
