What a way to waste $8 million, the cost to produce this garbage ... Another example of the superficial, cheap, insensitive, degrading, and rotten content that most of the world of cinema has become ... just one out of ten thousand films produced nowadays are worth watching. It's the first time I watch one of these films (Torrente) from beginning to end... and it truly depicts the spiritual poverty inside the director, Santiago Segura ... Recently I heard a very remarkable producer and actor, named Eduardo Verastegui, saying that what is produced in Hollywood or any other place where films and TV shows are made ... is simply the reflection of that which is in the heart of the producer, director, and actor ... That's right. The Kendrick brothers know that well. You can produce a film to inspire and bless millions of marriages such as Fireproof, or you can produce this type of Torrente series garbage to entertain and degrade women and men. How sad that some of the most trashy films I have ever seen are produced in Spain. As Spaniard, I feel ashamed... but the US or other countries are not that different. I hope these people who produce cheap entertainment at very high cost of production will change their hearts and start to produce something that has a little of substance and depth. How much talent wasted. Joaquin Fenollar

Last adventure in Torrente series starred by a racist , rude , despicable and drunken detective . This ¨Torrente V : Misión Eurovegas¨ has a good cast as Alec Baldwin , Anna Simon , Neus Asensi , Carlos Areces , Chus Lampreave and many others . Fifth entry in ¨Torrente series¨ starred by the most grotesque detective and well played by Santiago Segura , he is a real private dick , a poster child for police corruption . Featuring politically incorrect private detective Torrente (Santiago Segura) , he is a macho man , lazy , rude , sex maniac , drunkard , Athletic fan , caring only about protecting and serving himself . He is a Bad Santa of the police force , a peculiar and fatty man , being a ¨El Fari¨ fan , too . Despite that , he still manages to get the job done . Torrente follows the exploits of Jose Luis Torrente , a piggy and uneducated man acting for his own selfish purports . In previous outings Torrente was rejected from police duty and he returned to private investigation . Here crooked cop Torrente gets out of jail in the year 2018 to find a different Spain from the one he knew , as Cataluña is an independent country , El Fari is dead and his football stadium is destroyed . Out of prison is waiting Jesulin (Jesulín de Ubrique) and former sidekick Cuco (from Torrente 2: Mision en Marbella is now played by Julian Lopez ; Gabino Diego, who originally played that role and also had a small cameo on the first movie Torrente: El Brazo Tonto De Ley , has not returned to the franchise since 2001) . Later on , the botcher ex-dirty private eye forms a new band of underdogs (Carlos Areces , Florentino Fernandez , Fernando Esteso , Anna Simon , among others) to carry out a big robbing . Torrente gets involved in the middle of a nasty's plot to heist the great casino Madrid-EuroVegas , joining forces with a powerful and wheel-bounded American mobster (Alec Baldwin) . As we find our anti-hero in a delicate situation but he can count on to help him some people , as Cuco and his equally freak friends .This is 5º installment and inferior sequel in Torrente series . These films are made to entertain , and this movie , especially for a good time and a nice entertainment . "Torrente" is a passable and unapologetic dark comedy with great special effects , it has several funny and hilarious scenes and quite successful action scenes with persecution , car crashes and many other things . The picture contains thrills , noisy action , tongue-in-cheek , grotesque situations and above all , humor . Although there are also nudism , bad-mouthed language , bad taste jokes and profanities . ¨Torrente 5¨ is written, directed, produced and stars Segura, whose production house Amiguetes Entertainment produced the film , UIP holds Spanish distribution rights . The screenplay is absurd as well as crazy , just what makes laugh a lot , that the character "Torrente" a very slutty , clumsy , sexist , Machista , extreme-right-wing , on a real person is despicable , being not adequate , but this is a film that satirizes all this and that just means he's a pathetic character , though he also has his unsettling charms . This firth Torrente grossed moderate success at box office ; however ¨Torrente , El Brazo Tonto De Ley¨ set box office records in its day, took $707,000 and Torrente 2 grossed more than €22 million in 2001 . The film contains many cameos of famous people, familiar faces such as Chus Lampreave , Antonio De La Torre , Jose Luis Barragan , Pablo Motos , Neus Asensi , Falete , Ricardo Darin , El Gran Wyoming , Imanol Arias , Josema Yuste , Andreu Buenafuente , Silvia Abril , Manuel Tafalle , Andres Pajares , Carlos Latre , Maxi Iglesias , Jimmy Barnatan , Chiquito De Calzada and several others . Many of them famous from ¨Cuore¨ magazines . And the film is dedicated and in memory of Tony Leblanc . The cameos are very amusing and fun and there are lots of laughters and jokes . The movie contains a colorful and adequate cinematography by Teo Delgado . Thrilling as well as appropriate musical score by Roque Baños . The film takes advantage of impressive special effects , especially on its final part when takes place a breathtaking chase between cars and airplane , including : bound and leaps vehicles and expensive crashes . In fact , this Torrente was Nominated Goya Best Special Effects to Antonio Molina and Ferran Piquer . Santiago Segura dares to make films with total entertainment and bemusement . And "Torrente " is pure eschatological fun , it is 100 and some minutes of fun and laughters . It is a commendable effort by Santiago Segura to make a film like this . Few directors are able to achieve results as ¨Torrente¨ , the biggest box-office in Spain until ¨8 Apellidos Vascos¨. This film will not disappoint Santiago Segura fans. The first instalment was this ¨Torrente El Brazo Tonto De La Ley¨ ; being followed by "Torrente 2: Mission in Marbella" with Juanito Navarro , Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez , Paloma Cela , Santi Millan , Jose Mota , Pablo Carbonel ,among others ; ¨Torrente 3 El Protector¨ in which the horrendous Spanish detective becomes a bodyguard , being performed by José Mota , Yvonne Sciò , Eduardo García , Fabio Testi ; ¨Torrente 4 Lethal crisis¨ with Kiko Rivera , Javier Gutiérrez . The movies were written by, directed by and starred popular Spanish comedian-director Santiago Segura and is getting the remake treatment from New Line Cinema ; all of them were produced by Andres Vicente Gomez, who exec produced the Academy Award-winning Belle Epoque

Casposo (dandruffy) is used in Spain to describe poor concoctions, endeavors that lack ambition, half hearted efforts that exploit the simplest forms of entertainment. Torrente, Santiago Seguraś character returns for a 5th outing and the results are what you can expect when a franchise has been eploited for so long, specially if its core elements are bad taste humor, fecal jokes, and continuous demonstrations of bad manners. As usual, Torrente, mean spirited, shitty, bad mouthed, etc. has a grandiose plan for which he is forced to recruit the dumbest, most ridiculous and unoperative collection of crooks, embodied by an eccentric selection of real life has beens, freaky stand up comedians with no acting experience, a matador and some TV stars, with the added presence of A. Baldwin that seems to have had a good time entertaining those types, so far away from his world. The result is the one you would expect: hilarious for the addicts, so so for discriminating audiences.Santiago Segura proves again he is a pretty good director, although devoured by his creation. Ford Coppola famously said once that Star Wars had ended the career of the most talented director of its generation. Something similar can be said about Segura: He seems to be a slave of his character, obsessed with serving yet another dose of its antics, each time with less success, but even so a success so big, in Spanish terms, at least, that keeps him entangled with his creation, unable to break away to other stories I'm sure he'll do as well or even better.
