T. Williams Mis-cast, poor writing, weak, predictable story line, poor directing, poor cinematography, and NO redeeming qualities. Non-realistic or believable plot. Scenery was portrayed as Missouri but was no where near MO which only furthered the disbelief of this film. Disjointed and amateurish. Far too many non-realistic things done by some of the characters. And the list goes on and on and on. Liotta was the ONLY recognizable personality in the movie and the others have not been seen since, nor should they be based on the performances in this movie. Why Ray Liotta would stoop to signing-up for such a dog is beyond me. This was a poor b-rated attempt at a movie. Don't bother wasting your time or money on this one.

mitchellfinesod The mother of the children in this movie is supposed to be portrayed as sympathetic, but, she commits numerous felony crimes and is 10 times worse than the supposed "bad guy" father. The mother endangers her children's lives on numerous occasions with actual gun fights. A caring mother would have turned the children over to the police for their protection. She escapes from police custody and commits numerous armed robberies in the vicinity of her children. Her actions should easily warrant 20 years in prison. When her child needs insulin, she decides to commit armed robbery on innocent people at a pharmacy, instead of rushing her child to the hospital. I was sickened watching this and was only thankful it was not based on anything real.

ju-meira88 I was hoping I would get some drama, anxiety...I thought I would be mesmerized by the script, which sounded nice to me, while reading the back of the DVD. Well, I didn't get any of this. The movie is OK, I didn't waste my time watching it, but definitely it could have been better. It lacks some resolution, you end up wishing it was 10-15 longer. Some of the facts exposed are not quite clear (though you can get some ideas) by the horrible script. They tried to make a thriller, they tried to make our heart jump at some scenes. Well, they almost succeed. I have to say that I like the idea, it was just not well executed. Some of the viewers might watch the movie and get angry just because they wish to see more, to understand the situation better, and truly happened with the characters.

mackenzie-webb I saw this movie at a screening and I actually do wish I had never seen it. The basic plot is that a young mother needs to escape the cycle of abuse she and her children receive at the hands of their husband/father. Billy Burke plays said character. His rage has absolutely no buildup and plays out completely forced. For example, one scene plays out where he is just standing calmly and then in the blink of an eye he smashes a tumbler of scotch on the ground. It was so absurd and contrived, it's almost laughable. The audience is left wondering what is even going on as the camera pans out of the house and all we hear are the screams of a young boy. After this unclear incident the mother decides that she needs to escape the clutches of this "mad man". She finds an ally in Ray Liotta's character and even has an awkward, again so forced, maybe-romance with him. There is an almost 30 year age gap between the two actors which only contributes to that overarching theme of this film being ridiculously coerced and contrived. Even the best director could not have edited the performance of the two children to make it appear they have talent, especially the little girl. The film concludes with the mother getting her "ticket out" but not after one of the most ridiculous confrontations between the mother and eeeevil father involving a helicopter. Yes, a helicopter. When I was at this screening, the majority of the audience felt as I do. Upon hearing the criticisms, the director had nothing to come back at us with except defensive responses with no actual justification of his choices. That attitude left an even worse taste in my mouth about the movie.
