Three Swedish Girls in Upper Bavaria Audience Reviews

SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Tayloriona Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Horst in Translation ([email protected]) "Drei Schwedinnen in Oberbayern" or "3 Sexy Girls in Tirol" (and yes interestingly enough, some countries moved the protagonists from Bavaria to Austria) is a German film from the 1970s, so this one has its 40th anniversary now. If you read the names of Rothemund and Tomek who made this and if you know a bit about German film, then you will know what to expect here: yes this is another 90-minute sex comedy and those were really frequent around that time. And from many perspectives, this one here is as garbage as the others. This includes acting, "plot", production values and a lot more. But the one reason why I would not call this film a failure and why it is somewhat watchable at times is that it never takes itself seriously and occasionally succeeds in the only genre it wants to succeed: the comedy. And maybe it even turns on some people who are into blondes. I myself clearly prefer brunettes and as Swedes are usually are blonde, it's a natural disadvantage to me looking at this film. But that's just subjective and nobody should be punished for it. So yes, this film has a bit of guilty pleasure potential to be honest. It is extremely over the top, but not only in a really bad way as this approach makes also some of the jokes and punchlines work. This is for example better than most Schulmädchen films as there is absolutely nothing pseudo and nothing pretentious to it here and the fun the actors were obviously having makes the joy contagious at times. Really known cast members you won't find any in here. Maybe Fux comes the closest to that. But don't mistake my slight praise for a recommendation here. It's really only better than some similar films from 1970's Germany because those were truly horrible, not because this one here is any good. I give it a thumbs-down overall and suggest you skip it as a whole.
