Thrashin' is the age old story about a boy who falls in love with the rival gang leaders sister, with skateboards, and bodacious haircuts and clothing.Plotwise, it's really nothing new, a sort of West Side story struggle, with the conclusion ultimating in a race called the LA Massacre, which just involves lots of people on Skateboards going really fast.If Corey wins this race, he will become the face of Smash Skates or some other name. The thing is, The daggers leader doesn't like Corey going out with his sister, so he invites him to 'joust' which involves them chasing each other with a small bean bag on a stick.Corey breaks his arm, ooooo, I wonder if he will win and become friends with the brother and get the girl at the end? I really don't know....It's a typical eighties movie, made watchable by the likable cast and the admittedly good stunt-work and editing.We have the usual breaks in plot to show off the fancy moves, and the fianl sequence involves lots of people flying in the air and landing in trees.Brolin is great as the lead, and it's bright fun stuff to watch.

I was a nearly a kid when this movie appeared on TV and I had an opportunity to watch it again a month ago.What else to say except that all people which lived in '80s will adore this movie because it will remind them on times when life was simpler,when all people around the world respected each other much more and when young people could do anything they wanted with their lives. Skateboards however, survived,and maybe good feeling of '80s will repeat again! However,for todays kids this movie will probably be "lame" or even funny,which will only show us what have we made of world for this 20 years.Well,in waiting of new "peace era of '80s" watch this and enjoy "Trashin"!

I watched this film several times about 15 years ago, and both the soundtrack and fantastic teenage-vibe influenced me... It's about freedom, and that still works for me to this day. It doesn't seem to be in European distribution though, and that really stinks because SURELY everyone should watch this PERFECT teenage-story!!!

What can you say about the mid-eighties...and b-movies from the mid-eighties. Not much I'm afraid. Taking this to heart though, I must say that I LOVE this movie. I know most will think I'm nut's for saying that, but I do. Just view the movie for the trip it provides down memory lane. Sure, the majority of the music is pretty awful, but there are a couple of real treats. A performance by The Red Hot Chili Peppers playing Blackeyed Blonde, (with Hillel Slovak on guitar...RIP) comes to mind. They don't even have half of their tattoo's yet! Keep in mind that this movie tried to launch the careers of many early skaters including Tony Hawk, Christian Hosoi, Per Wielander, and many more through cameo appearances. It's also wild to see all the old skate companies like Santa Cruz & Powell-Peralta, Gullwing trucks, and even an old Mark(Gator)Rogowski pro-model deck being represented. Unless you have a real appreciation for the brief popularity skating enjoyed in the mid-eighties, you won't appreciate this movie. But if you do...check it out. It's worth wading through all the horrible love scenes to take the trip down memory lane.
