kurt-2000 I really believe that a majority of people that evaluate films on IMDb are mostly interested in action adventures. And if there's not enough action, they type negative review and give low star ratings here. There's nothing wrong with this film, and I liked it since this story has a moral compass. When people learn the virtues of an honest life, the message to viewers is beneficial. I liked all the characters, and they did a great job. If a human interest story is of interest to you, then please check out this film. I love Kate Beckinsale in this film, and she played a great villain in Total Recall as well.

Schuriken It's a good contemporary drama film about Kate going about trying to solve a strange murder case.In this film you actually witness Beckinsale showing some emotion (some) which is a rare thing about her. In most of her movies she looks like a cardboard cut out with real legs and arms. It's like her face was stored in a freezer for 12 weeks and can't move a single facial muscle.Anyways, this is a good film for all ages, photography is good, story is realistic enough and Nick Nolte appears to be wearing a different suit every 5 minutes.I can't give it a lower grade than 6 because I found nothing wrong with this one. Enjoy.

rexhorwood-222-710986 I will never know why some writers and directors ruin what was a good film with scenes that could not happen.When you have a courtroom drama where the Judge rules that witnesses have committed perjury it would be necessary for that judge to sign arrest warrants for the transgressors and this is totally ignored and has a detrimental effect in that some scenes that follow just could not happen.It is important in a courtroom drama that the film is accurate in respect of some legal matters so when it is not then in reality it spoils the whole film. It is well acted so the fact that the writer/director lets the cast down in this way is particularly annoying.

Radu Malureanu (radursm) This is going to be one of those unfairly underrated movies. It is not a block-buster, not a mystery-driven court-drama, but a movie about life. Kate Beckinsale is more than beautiful. Don't expect her as being the acrobatic vampire Selene, or Anna Valerious, as she is not fighting Transylvanian monsters either. Nor she is a classic beauty in Pearl Harbor, or the serendipity wonder in New York's Christmas. Here, she is a divorced mother, fighting to gain a new sense of professional/personal life. And she is convincing. And a good lawyer, having to make some (difficult) morals choices. And she is convincing (did I say that already?). The movie itself has value exactly on focusing on realistic dramas. It's not about thrilling suspense of some twisting court plot. It's not about a drama of divorced parents. It tells a story that might happen. On the other hand, Nick Nolte lost some of his aesthetics. He didn't act with passion. Sometimes I felt he was just reciting his script lines. As for the movie, I had only one problem. Somehow, it did not suit them (Beckinsale, Nolte, Pellegino) to have that over-dirty language. I'm no hypocrite, I don't blush for the sake of conservative purity, but here, the bad language was overused. My personal opinion is that cinematography should pass the Samuel L. Jackson's characters' language stage. A nice and long expected surprise! Chapeau!
