PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Irishchatter Seriously I think this movie really made the era look bad! The jokes were so not funny and the storyline was rather ****** up! I couldn't believe Andy Samburg and Bill Hader were on this, they shouldve backed away, they knew well that this is one of the worst films together!Rather then make this comedy raunchy or full of filth, they should've got better actors and not make this just a 'comedy'. The insults were really horrible and more like what young children would say, like if they were fighting with other children. However, these are adult actors, they should be more appropriate then that within being involved in a comedy film. Terrible movie, terrible actors and terrible plot!
MovieHoliks I saw this movie on Showtime, and was hesitant to watch it thinking I had seen it already, but I believe I was thinking of Aubrey Plaza's only other starring film role to date- "Safety Not Guaranteed"-?? Well, I watched this comedy yesterday and effin' hilarious! This is one of the first period movies I've seen set in the '90s, very close to when I graduated. Plaza plays a graduating senior, who is somewhat of a perfectionist, and she realizes as she is just about to enter college, there is one area of expertise she has fallen short of in experience- sex! So she creates the titular "To Do List"- handjobs, rimjobs, blowjobs, "dry-humping", etc.. (you get the picture), that she vows to try every step leading up to the ultimate "intercourse" of course! LOL One might look at this movie as one of those "sexploitation" teen comedies that were especially big in the early 1980s- IE "Porky's" for instance, but it's not really. This movie has a heart, good-intelligent writing, performances, and I must say- having remembered that time period like the back of my hand- they got the music, movies, TV, pop culture references down to a tee! I was impressed!- summer of '93- playing at the local multi-plex-->> "The Firm", "Sleepless In Seattle", etc.. And look for a great cast as well- besides Plaza, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Connie Britton, Scott Porter, etc.. And *possible SPOILER*- there is a scene that references the movie "Caddyshack" in this that I was LMAO, however, might be a little too much for some to handle- remember the Bill Murray pool-cleaning scene-???? BAW-hahahahahhaaaa
hsibley2 Saw this movie by accident flipping through TV channels. In all I found the dialog and acting to be entertaining. The subject matter and its details are not for those easily embarrassed for the movie holds nothing back. If I had not seen real people behaving like the characters in this movie I would have been inclined to say the movie was ridiculous. But real people young and old behave this way. I gave this movie only a 7 because I felt the subject matter was too serious for some of the slapstick balloon editorials at the conclusion of completing a line item on the list. Aubrey Plaza with her wonderful eyes was ideal as the lead and the overall cast very good.
SnoopyStyle It's 1993 in Boise, Idaho. Brandy Klark (Aubrey Plaza) has just graduated from high school as the straight laced valedictorian and a virgin. She has a loose older sister Amber (Rachel Bilson), frank mother (Connie Britton) and an embarrassed father (Clark Gregg). Cameron (Johnny Simmons) is her nerdy friend who is in love with her. Fiona (Alia Shawkat) and Wendy (Sarah Steele) are her slutty best friends. She gets convinced by her sister that she needs to lose her virginity before going to college. She wants to lose it to hot guy Rusty Waters (Scott Porter). So she makes a sexual to-do list. She's working at the pool managed by Willy (Bill Hader) for the summer where Rusty, Derrick (Donald Glover) and Cameron are working. This is a fine inappropriate coming of age movie from writer/director Maggie Carey. My biggest problem is actually Aubrey Plaza. She's too old to play a teenager. She also plays very sarcastic which takes away from the character. I think either Alia Shawkat or Sarah Steele would be better fit. They have a more innocent persona which would work much better for the character. Aubrey's whole act is low energy sarcasm. It's a better fit for a sarcastic bitter friend with a heart like 'Parks and Recreation'.
